The Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-TRTP is a 1U rack server featuring 10x 2.5-inch hot-swap bays and dual 10G SFP+ ports. The dual-socket chassis supports first- and second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors plus 24x memory module slots for up to 6TB of memory! Intel Optane memory modules are supported providing higher levels of performance and data resiliency.
The 1029U-TRTP server is part of the Ultra SuperServer family and is designed for use as a high-end enterprise server or for use in cloud computing with high-density virtualization. Depending on your needs and budget, this system can be outfitted with either first- or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, all powered by a 750W redundant power supplies. Unlike other systems in the 1029U family, the Supermicro 1029U-TRTP supports two 10G SFP+ ports. * The system is only sold with a minimum of two processors and four memory modules.
Two first- or second-generation Scalable processors with up to 28 cores each are supported. The maximum processor thermal design power (TDP) supported in this configuration is 205W with a transfer speed of up to 10.4GT/s. With all 24x memory module slots loaded with 256GB memory modules, it will support a maximum memory capacity of 6TB. Intel Optane memory modules are only supported using second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
Each processor supports 6x memory channels, with 2x memory modules per channel and 12x memory module slots per CPU, for a total of 24x active memory slots between both processors. When all 24 DIMMs are populated with 256GB 3DS Registered (RDIMM) or Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules, the chassis can support a maximum of 6TB of memory. RDIMM, and LRDIMM memory modules are compatible with both first-generation and second-generation Scalable processors. Intel Optane data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) are also supported, but only with second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Second-generation processors support memory speeds of 2933MT/s compared to first-generation processors with speeds of 2666MT/s.
Designed for high-performance, the 1029U-TRTP has 10x 2.5-inch hot-swap SATA3 drive bays on the front of the system. Two drive bays have hybrid ports, that can support NVMe, while the other 8 drive bays can support SAS drives with an optional add-on card. Two SuperDOM (Disk on module) headers can be found on the motherboard to provide high-performance solid-state storage capacity that simulates a hard disk drive. 1x M.2 NVMe or SATA3 drive can be added using an optional riser card. Two more NVMe drives can be added using an optional add-on card.
The Supermicro 1029U-TRTP supports up to four PCIe 3.0 slots, with one slot specifically for a Nvidia GPU. The server also supports up to two PCIe M.2 cards or one SATA M.2 via an optional add-on card, but in order to have full access to all PCIe slots and onboard controllers, both CPUs must be installed. On the back of the system, two 10G SFP+ ports are available for fast network connection speeds.
This system can be managed by several management software programs including Supermicro Update Manager (SUM), Supermicro Power Manager (SPM), Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), and SuperDoctor 5 (SD5). SuperDoctor 5 functions with Windows and Linux operating systems and can monitor system health like CPU temperature, power consumption, and fan speed. If something goes wrong, the system can provide administrators with alerts via email of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The platform also features an Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) port to remotely manage the server and allows users to remotely manage the system, including ejecting and replacing NVMe drives.
Offering support for up to 6TB of memory, 10x flexible storage devices, two 10G SFP+ ports, plus M.2 storage, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-TRTP is designed to quickly process data for high-performance computing applications. The system is only sold with a minimum of two processors and four memory modules.
