Part of Supermicro’s SuperServer Ultra category, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL1-S16 delivers two-socket performance in a 1U chassis. With a full compliment of memory modules installed, the system will support a maximum of 2TB. This server also offers extremely low latency, perfect for low-latency trading.
There are three other systems that share the same characteristics as the Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL1-S16. The only differences between them are the supported processors. Aside from that, all three of these chassis feature 10x 2.5-inch drive bays up front that can support 8x SAS drives plus 2x hot-swap NVMe drives for data resiliency and low latency for financial applications. This system is also used for business-critical applications and as an enterprise server. *This system comes complete with two CPUs, 12x memory modules, 4x SSDs, and 1x low-latency NIC.
This chassis supports the Intel Xeon Scalable Gold 6144 processor from the 1st generation, which has 8x cores. The other three chassis, the 1029UX-LL2-S16, and 1029UX-LL3-S16, support the Intel Xeon Scalable Gold 6146 and 6154, respectively. Each processor supports 6x memory channels with 8x memory modules per CPU. The system has redundant 750W platinum PSUs, and memory will run at speeds of up to 2666MHz.
Only DDR4 memory modules are supported providing up to 2TB of memory. However, deployments using the recommended Intel Xeon Scalable Gold 6144 processor will only support a maximum of 1.5TB of memory. As this is a first-generation processor, memory speed is limited to 2666MHz.
10x storage bays line the front of the Supermicro 1029UX-LL1-S16 and support 8x SAS drives and 2x NVMe drives on the far right. All drives are hot-swappable, with SAS support integrated using a 3108 LSI add-on card.
There are 2x PCIe x16 slots plus 2x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots, one of which is used for SAS support with the dedicated controller. Another one is dedicated for a high-performance, low-latency network interface card that supports 10GbE, as well as up to 40GbE.
Management of the system is accomplished through and Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) that connects to the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), which is built on the ASPEED AST 2500 controller and connects to the system over a dedicated LAN. SuperDoctor5 (SD5) is another useful management tool that enables remote and at-chassis management of the system through a standard browser.
Designed specifically for low-latency applications, like online trading, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL1-S16 delivers with a dual processor platform optimized for performance with Gold processors and fast network connections. Supermicro hyper-speed and hyper-turbo technologies help deliver the highest performance.
