Optimized for extreme low-latency, the 1U Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL2-S16 delivers dual-socket performance for financial and mission critical applications, even breaking a world record for a double-digit latency improvement. For investors, getting timely information from the stock exchange is a game changer and can help gain a competitive advantage.
To achieve this low-latency status, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL2-S16 uses a specific processor/memory configuration, plus a validated low-latency I/O card. There are two other low-latency platforms in this family— each of which support a different Intel Xeon Scalable Gold processor. At 1U, this server is an easy addition to your network and supports both SAS and NVMe drive options. *This system is only available as a completely assembled unit including 2x processors, 12x 16GB memory modules, 4x SAS storage devices, and one qualified low-latency PCIe NIC card.
To meet the low-latency trading performance figures outlined in the white paper in the “Documentation” section below, this system is outfitted with two 6146 Intel Xeon Scalable Gold processors with 12 cores, and a turbo frequency of 4.00 GHz. Each processor will also support 6x memory channels with memory speeds of up to 2666MHz. The system is powered by redundant 750W Platinum level PSUs.
As this platform comes pre-configured with 1st Generation 6146 Gold SP processors, memory speed will run at a top frequency of 2666MHz. For optimal performance, 12x load-reduced LRDIMM memory modules are installed, with 1x memory module in 12 of the 16x memory module slots.
10x drive bays line the front of the Supermicro 1029UX-LL2-S16 with 8x SAS drives and 2x NVMe drives for data resiliency and low latency. The SAS drives connect to an internal 3108 HD/RAID controller.
Two pre-installed riser cards support optional riser cards. One supports a single PCIe x8 expansion slot and the other supports 2x PCIe x16 slots. A separate x8 slot supports an optional Supermicro I/O Module (SIOM) offering several different connection speeds depending on your needs.
Supermicro’s Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) connects to the system through the onboard Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). The BMC leverages the ASPEED AST 2500 controller for at-chassis and remote management. The system is Intelligent Platform Management Interface or IPMI 2.0 compatible and helps you manage the system health and maintenance. A LAN port on the back of the system provides a dedicated connection to the management module. Additional management applications include SuperDoctor5 (SD5) and Watchdog.
Featuring record-breaking performance, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL2-S16 is the platform of choice for low-latency trading, in just 1U of space. This platform has been optimized by the experts so you don’t have to do the trial and error yourself.
