Part of the TwinPro server line, The Supermicro SuperServer 2029TP-HC0R features four dual processor server nodes capable of supporting up to 4TB of memory each for up to 16TB of memory in a 2U chassis! 24x drive bays up front support 2.5-inch SATA drives.
Each of the 4x server nodes are allocated 6x of the 24x front-mounted hot-swap hard drives. There are three platforms in this family, each with a different server node backplane. This one supports 2.5-inch SAS and SATA drives in the front bays and each node features a Broadcom 3008 SAS3 controller.
Both 1st and 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported in this chassis up to 165W TDP and 28 cores. 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors will support memory speeds of up to 2933MHz, while 1st generation processors will only support a top frequency of 2666MHz. Each processor supports six memory channels.
Each processor has eight memory module slots for a total of 16 active memory module slots with two processors installed. Memory is in a 2+1+1 configuration with four memory modules in two channels and the other four occupying a single memory channel. Memory speed is dependent on the processor speed, memory speed, and memory configuration. 3DS Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and Intel Optane Data Center Persistent Memory Modules (DCPMM) are supported. A top capacity of up to 4TB is only supported using 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
24x storage bays are allocated equally between the server nodes. For support of the OS you can install either an optional M.2 module, which supports 2x M.2 drives or 2x SuperDOMs (Disk on Motherboard). The SuperDOM and M.2 drive modules are not compatible in the same chassis and require both processors to operate.
Two PCIe 3.0 slots give you options for support of faster network connections or additional super-fast storage from M.2 storage devices. A Supermicro I/O Module has a dedicated slot on the motherboard and features several different network connection options.
This system is intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) compatible. A dedicated RJ-45 port on the back of the system provides a connection to the ASPEED AST 2500 module for out-of-band management of the system. SuperDoctor5 is a browser-based program that provides a graphical interface documenting the system health and hardware assets. Additional software applications like Intel Node Manager and Watchdog provide more granular management of the Supermicro SuperServer 2029TP-HC0R.
The TwinPro Supermicro SuperServer 2029TP-HC0R system delivers up to 8x processors in four separate server nodes, each of which can be outfitted for a specific application. The modular form factor allows you to easily scale your hardware assets on demand with additional 4-node chassis.
