The Supermicro SuperServer 2029UZ-TN20R25M Server features a 2U chassis and is part of the Ultra server line, which promises the best performance and flexibility for enterprise applications. It supports dual Gen 2 Intel Scalable CPUs, plus up to 6TB of memory and up to 24x 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays, 20 drives of which can be NVMe.
This particular platform is designed for use with extreme virtualization, hyper-converged storage, and cloud computing. It is sold only as a completely assembled system with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 4x DIMM modules, and 10x NVMe drives. It features two integrated high-speed ethernet ports for enhanced network communications. With support for the Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Supermicro SuperServer 2029UZ-TN20R25M is also compatible with Intel Optane DC persistent memory modules delivering faster speeds and more capacity for data centric workloads.
This platform is sold with a minimum of two CPUs from either the first or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors up to 205W and 28 cores. Memory will run at up to 2666MHz with Gen 1 processors and up to 2933MHz using Gen 2 intel Xeon Scalable processors. Memory is also dependent on the CPU and memory configuration. The system is powered by redundant Titanium grade 1600W power supply units.
To achieve the highest memory capacity of 6TB requires 256GB 3DS DDR4 memory modules in all 24x DIMM slots, which will also require Gen 2 Intel Scalable processors. Optane Data Centric Persistent Memory Modules (DCPMM) are also supported but only with Gen 2 Scalable processors. Using Gen 1 Intel Scalable processors The system will support a maximum capacity of 3TB using 128GB memory modules in all slots plus CPUs with an “M” suffix. Registered and Load-Reduced memory modules are also supported.
24 storage bays on the front of Supermicro 2029UZ-TN20R25M can be outfitted with up to 20x NVMe U.2 drives plus 4x SAS 3.0 or SATA III drives. The C621 chipset supports an integrated SATA controller for up to 10x SATA6 6Gb/s ports with RAID support of 0, 1, 5 or 10. There are 20 direct connect ports on the system board for 20x NVMe U.2 drives. An optional storage control card can be implemented to support NVMe/SAS drives. M.2 drives are also supported including one on the system board. VROC, virtual RAID on CPU, is supported.
There is a single PCIe 3.0 x8 slot on the motherboard that will support a variety of options. Card options include, a dual M.2 low-profile PCIe card, NVMe/SAS drive controller, or cards for faster network connections. The system features two 25Gb/s ethernet ports for network connectivity and a dedicated IPMI local area network (LAN) management port, adjacent.
The 4U Supermicro SuperServer 2029UZ-TN20R25M supports up to 24x hot-swap drives, dual processors and up to 6TB of memory for some truly incredible performance. This system is an excellent choice for a diversity of workloads including Big Data, Analytics, Cloud Computing, and high-performance computing applications.
