Ideal for virtualization, hyper converged storage, and cloud computing, this high-end enterprise server features the latest Supermicro X11 motherboard with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The system is compatible with first or second generation CPUs, 12x hot-swappable 3.5-inch drive bays, and 24x memory module slots with up to 6TB of memory. The difference between this chassis and the others in the same Ultra SuperServer family is the network connection for 4x 10GBase-T LAN ports on the back of the system.
The Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-E1CR4T supports first or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores each. On the front of the system, there are 12x hot-swappable 3.5-inch storage bays in a 2U form factor. Under the lid, there are 24x DDR4 memory module slots with up to 6TB. The system also supports Intel Optane memory modules, but only with 2nd generation CPUs.
*This system can only be sold with a minimum of 2 processors, 4 DIMMs, and a storage add-on card.
As soon as you open the Supermicro 6029U-E1CR4T you can see several configuration options available. The chassis features the newest X11 generation motherboard with dual sockets to support Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The system is compatible with 1st and 2nd generation CPUs with up to 28 cores each and a TDP from 70W to 205W. Memory speeds depend on the generation used. First-generation CPUs support nonvolatile (NVDIMM) memory modules, while second-generation CPUs support Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and Intel Optane data center persistent (DCPMM) memory modules.
Designed to support 24x memory module slots, the SuperServer 6029U-E1CR4T can support up to 6TB of DDR4 memory. As previously mentioned in the section above, the server supports Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM), and Intel Optane memory modules. Memory speed depends on the generation of processor used. First-generation CPUs reach speeds of 2666MHz, while second-generation CPUs reach 2933MHz.
All 12x 3.5-inch storage bays on the front of the system support SATA, NVMe, or SAS3 with an optional add-on card. All drives are also hot-swappable. If more storage is needed, the system offers support for up to 2x M.2 drives. When mounted on a riser card, one socket supports PCIe and the other supports SATA. A specialized air shroud to cool the M.2 solid state drive is available.
The X11 motherboard supports 8x PCIe 3.0 slots, but both processors must be installed in order to have full access to the PCIe slots and onboard controllers. There are eight 8-pin connectors on the motherboard to supply power to onboard devices. Power connectors 1-4 are used for GPU devices, and the others are used for backplane devices. Another feature that jumps out when you look at the rear panel of the server is the abundance of Ethernet ports. A total of 4x 10GBase-T LAN ports are available, along with an additional base management controller (BMC) LAN port for the management interface.
Referring to the expansion section above, the 6029U-E1CR4T offers a base management controller (BMC) LAN port for the management interface. Just like the other systems in the Ultra SuperServer family, this system supports Intel Node Manager, Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0), Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), and SuperDoctor5 (SD5). SD5 allows IT administrators to monitor the hardware health or availability of the target node systems in data centers in real-time, as well as receive alerts. The program is optimized for Windows or Linux operating systems.
Ideally, the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-E1CR4T can be customized for your digital transformation applications. The Supermicro X11 motherboard supports either Gen1 or Gen2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors, allowing memory speeds to reach 2933MHz when using Gen2 CPUs. The 2U enterprise server supports 12x 3.5-inch drive bays, optional M.2, and 24x memory module slots with up to 6TB of memory. Businesses that continue to grow can take advantage of the flexibility this system offers!
