Designed for use as a high-end enterprise server or for extreme virtualization or cloud computing, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-E1CRT delivers dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 6TB of memory in a 1U chassis. 10x hot swap storage bays line the front of the system and supports SATA3 and SAS3 drives using an optional PCIe HD/RAID controller.
Leading the way for flexibility, the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-E1CRT has 12x hot-swappable 3.5-inch storage bays that support SATA, SAS, or NVMe. The system also supports Gen1 or Gen2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores each. The 2U server holds 24x DDR4 DIMM slots with up to 6TB, and an option to use Intel Optane memory modules, but only with 2nd generation CPUs. This system can only be sold with a minimum of 2 processors, 4 DIMMs, and a storage add-on card.
The Supermicro 6029U-E1CRT supports the newest X11 generation motherboard with dual sockets to support Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The system can handle Gen1 or Gen2 CPUs with up to 28 cores each and a TDP from 70W to 205W. Depending on which generation is used, memory speeds will differ.
Under the hood, there are 6 memory channels per CPU, for a total of 24x memory module slots between both processors. The SuperServer 6029U-E1CRT supports up to 6TB of DDR4 memory in several configurations. The server supports nonvolatile (NVDIMM), Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM), and Intel Optane memory modules. First-generation CPUs support NVDIMM, and second-generation CPUs support RDIMM, LRDIMM and Intel Optane. Gen2 processors reach a faster speed of 2933MHz, while Gen1 reaches slower speeds of 2666MHz.
The 12x 3.5-inch storage bays on the front panel are all hot-swappable. The system supports SATA or SAS drives using an add-on card and expander, with an option for four NVMe drives. If more storage is needed, there is room for 2x M.2 solid state drives where one socket supports PCIe and the other supports SATA. The following combinations are supported:
On the back of the chassis, there are 7x PCIe 3.0 slots. The X11 motherboard supports an additional PCIe slot, for a total of 8x PCIe expansion cards. The motherboard also offers support for 2x GPU devices. To have full access to the PCIe slots and onboard controllers, both CPUs must be installed. Also on the back of the chassis, there are 2x 10GBase-T LAN ports next to a base management controller (BMC) LAN port to manage the system.
Like the other systems in the Ultra SuperServer family, the 6029U-E1CRT offers a base management controller (BMC) LAN port on the back of the chassis. The server supports SuperDoctor5 (SD5), Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0), and Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), among others. SSM allows IT administrators to monitor the health of the server components including memory, hard drives and RAID controllers. It can also monitor and manage power usage across all Supermicro servers allowing users to maximize their CPU payload.
Made for virtualization, the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-E1CRT can take on high-performance applications. With support for either Gen1 or Gen2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors with speeds up to 2933MHz, this server allows tons of flexibility. The 2U platform supports several variations of storage, including M.2, and different types of memory, including Intel Optane.
