The Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TR25M features the latest technology to support a 25GbE network. Powered by dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the 2U chassis features 12x 3.5-inch drive bays up front with an option to install two more in back. It will support up to 6TB of memory, including Intel Optane data centric persistent memory modules with a 2nd generation Scalable processors.
Twelve 3.5-inch drive bays line the front of the 2U Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TR25M. This platform supports SATA natively but cn also support a combination of SAS and NVMe storage devices. This system also has 8x PCIe 3.0 slots for additional storage, I/O or graphics support using GPUs. *This system is only sold as a completely assembled system with a minimum of 2x processors and 4x DDR4 memory modules.
The server supports both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors that can support up to 28 cores and between 70-205W TDP. The 2nd generation processors support more memory than first generation processors in addition to Intel’s new Optane data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM). Gen 1 Intel Xeon Scalable processors support a maximum of 1.5TB each, and with dual processors up to 3TB. Gen 2 Scalable processors with an “M” suffix will support up to 2TB of memory each. “L” suffix 2nd generation processors will support up to 4.5TB each. Only Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors reach the top memory speed of 2933MT/s, while first generation CPUs will only support memory speeds of up to 2666MT/s.
With both processors installed there are 24x active memory module slots. Up to 6TB 3DS Load-Reduced (3DS LRDIMM), 3DS Registered (3DS RDIMM), or up to 3TB Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) with speeds of up to 2933 MHz are all supported. Non-Volatile (NVDIMM) and Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory (DCPMM). Only Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors support the top memory speed of 2933MHz. However, memory speed is dependent on both the processor, memory configuration, and memory module supported speeds.
The SuperServer 6029U-TR25M supports 12x 3.5-inch hot-swap storage drives, SATA3 by default, with an option for 8x SAS3 and 4x NVMe/SAS3 drives using a discrete HD/RADI controller. There’s also room for an optional drive cage supporting 2x more 2.5-inch drives in back. Additional storage using M.2 drives can also be installed using add-on cards mounted in the PCIe slots.
In order to gain full access to the PCIe slots and onboard controllers, both CPUs need to be installed. With the appropriate risers, the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TRTP supports up to 8x PCIe 3.0 slots.
One of the key features on this system is the Supermicro SuperDoctor 5 program that functions in a command-line or web-based interface for Windows and Linux operating systems. The program monitors system health status and provides information like CPU temperature, system voltages, system power consumption, and fan speed to name a few. It can also be configured to provide alerts via email or Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The program supports both at chassis and remote management of the system, enabling you to remotely control the power and reset chassis intrusion for multiply systems.
The Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TR25M is only sold as a completely assembled system with a minimum of 2x processors and 24x DDR4 memory modules. It supports 25GbE natively through 2x 25GbE SFP28 Ethernet ports for increased bandwidth with superior impedance control. Not only does this high-end server feature flexible networking options, it also has the ability to support both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives, and up to 6TB of memory.
