Compared to other models in the SYS-6029U family, the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TRTP has the newest technology to support a 10G network. This system supports 2x 10G SFP+ ports to ensure optimal performance with the lowest latency and power usage. It has 12x 3.5-inch drives up front with an option for two more in back, up to 6TB of memory, plus flexible network options powered by Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
With low latency and low power usage this platform is ideal for the data center plus cloud computing and extreme virtualization. Along with 12x 3.5-inch drive bays, the system will also support optional NVMe drives, and GPUs. The main difference between the various SuperServer 6029U platforms are the LAN ports. The Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TRTP supports 2x 10G SFP+ ports to maximize I/O performance. *This system is only sold as a completely assembled system with a minimum of 2x processors and 4x DDR4 memory modules.
Both Gen 1 or Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors can be installed and both support up to 28 cores, and 70-205W. Gen 1 CPUs with an “M” suffix will support up to 1.5TB of memory each. Gen 2 processors with an “M” suffix will support up to 2TB of memory. For maximum memory support, Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors with an “L” suffix will support up to 4.5TB. Second generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors reach the top memory speed of 2933MT/s, while first generation CPUs will only support memory speeds of up to 2666MT/s.
12x memory module slots are assigned per processor for a total of 24x active memory module slots in a two-processor configuration. Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM), Non-Volatile (NVDIMM), and Intel Optane memory modules are supported, but only using Gen 2 Scalable processors. Only Gen 2 Scalable processors support the top memory speed of 2933MHz. Memory speed is dependent on both the processor, memory configuration, and memory module supported speeds. With all slots loaded with 256GB memory modules the system will support up to 6TB.
SAS, SATA, and NVMe storage devices are supported on this system. The hot-swappable storage drives are SATA3 by default, with an option for 8x SAS3 and 4x NVMe/SAS3 drives using a discrete HD/RAID controller. There are 12x 3.5-inch drive bays in front and room for an optional rear drive cage supporting 2x more 2.5-inch drives. Additional storage using M.2 drives can be installed using add-on cards mounted in the PCIe slots.
When using the appropriate risers, the SuperServer 6029U-TRTP supports up to 8x PCIe 3.0 slots. The PCIe slots can be used to support storage controllers to support SAS and NVMe drives. The optional rear storage cage mounts in PCIe slot 2. A maximum of two GPUs can be installed on this system but the CPUs cannot exceed a TDP of 165W. Both CPUs need to be installed for full access to the PCIe slots and onboard controllers.
The Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TRTP uses Supermicro’s Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0, or IPMI, which offers out-of-band management of the chassis through the integrated Base Management Controller (BMC). SuperDoctor 5 (SD5) features an easy to use graphical interface to help monitor and track the health status of the system and can be configured to send out email or text alerts.
The Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-TRTP is only sold as a completely assembled system with a minimum of 2x processors and 24x DDR4 memory modules. It supports 2x 10G SFP+ ports to ensure optimal performance with the lowest latency and power usage. With support for both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drive options, and up to 6TB of memory supported by dual processors, this platform is an excellent choice for high-performance computing applications.
