Equipped with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 4th or 5th generation, the Supermicro SuperServer 741P-TR Tower can handle CPUs with a TDP up to 300W. Depending on the CPU installed, up to 4TB of ECC DDR5 RDIMMs with memory speeds up to 5600MT/s can be deployed. The 4U rackmount tower workstation has 8x hot-swap 3.5” drive bays on the front panel. The server supports up to 8x SATA or up to 8x SAS with 4x hybrid drive bays which can support SATA/SAS/NVMe or 4x SATA/SAS and 4x SATA/SAS/NVMe (SAS and NVMe require additional parts). 3x optional 5.25” DVD bays can also be installed.
Ideal for virtualization and enterprise server applications, the Supermicro 741P-TR features 2x M.2 PCIe 4.0 x2 NVMe slots to boot the operating system as well as 2x SuperDOM ports to provide high-performance solid-state storage capacity that simulates a HDD. Optionally the system can support 4x support SAS or SATA drives, with the remaining 4x supporting NVMe drives. Additional storage controllers or cables may be required for support of NVMe drive formats. On the back of the system there are 1200W redundant Titanium level power supplies, 2x 10GbE RJ45 LAN ports, 4x USB 3.0 ports, and a dedicated IPMI LAN port. Just under these ports there are a total of 6x PCIe slots with 2x supporting PCIe 5.0 x8 FHFL slots and 4x supporting PCIe 5.0 x16 FHFL slots.
The system can be managed with software such as SuperCloud Composer, Supermicro SuperDoctor 5, and SuperServer Automation Assistant (SAA), among others. SAA is a CLI (Command-Line Interface) based utility that eases the management effort for IT Administrator to easily deploy, configure, and update the managed systems from a single node to datacenter scale.
