The Supermicro SuperStorage 1029P-NES32R server is a 1U system designed for IOPS Intensive Applications, Database Applications, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure tasks. Up to 2x 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors can be installed on this system. Each socket supports 12x DIMM slots for a total of 24x DIMM slots. There are a total of 32x hot-swappable PCIe E1.S slots or M.2 drive bays accessible from the front of the server.
Featuring high-speed storage drives on the front of the chassis the Supermicro SuperStorage 1029P-NES32R server excels at IOPS Intensive Applications, Database Applications, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure tasks. It offers a 1U chassis with support for dual 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. There are a total of 24x DIMM slots on the system board evenly divided between each CPU socket. 32x hot-swappable PCIE E1.S drive slots are available on the front of the system, however, these bays can also be outfitted with M.2 drives which are not hot-swappable. Power is provided by dual redundant 1600W Titanium-level PSUs.
* To maintain quality and integrity, this product is sold only as a completely-assembled system, with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 2x DIMMs, and 4x drives.
2x 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors power this system. It is possible to configure this system with up to 28x physical cores and 56x virtual threads, per CPU. The Thermal Design Point is between 70W and 205W, which allows the full lineup of Intel Xeon Scalable Processors to be installed. Only 2nd Generation CPUs are compatible with Data Centric Persistent Memory (DCPMM). Both processor generations support PCIe 3.0 speeds and 6x memory channels.
There are 32x hot-swappable PCIe E1.S drive slots accessible from the front of the server. E1.S drives are the next generation of storage devices which offer better performance, boast lower energy costs, and can be configured for higher density when compared to 2.5-inch SSD and M.2 form factors. They too use the PCIe bus for better data throughput and even support critical server features such as hot-swaping while also reducing heat generation. It is possible to install NVMe M.2 drives as well but they will not be hot-swappable. The supported M.2 drives have form factors of 22 x 42/60/80/110 and will require using the MCP-220-12106-0N drive tray in order to support the M.2 drive form factor. An optional M.2 PCIe 3.0 x8 add-on-card (AOC) AOC-SLG3-2H8M2 for 2x M.2 SSD SATA or NVMe 2280/2210 from factor can also be installed and offers a hardware RAID1 for support of the operating system.
If both processors are installed, there are 24x active DIMM slots available on the Supermicro 1029P-NES32R Server. The DIMM slots are compatible with either Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) and Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs). The maximum memory configuration on this system is 6TB using 3DS ECC DDR4 2933MHz RDIMM or LRDIMM modules. 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors also support DCPMMs for greater speed and memory resilience.
System expansion is achieved through 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 Full-Height, Half-Length slots plus a single PCIe 3.0 x4 Low-Profile slot. Dual integrated 10GbE LAN ports are accessible from the rear for hardline connections to the network. An intelligent platform management interface (IPMI) RJ45 port is also located on the back of the system and provides access to manage the system remotely using a standard browser.
Supermicro provides a suite of management options for the Supermicro SuperStorage 1029P-NES32R. These options include the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, Intel Node Manager, KVM with dedicated LAN, NMI, SSM, SPM, SUM, SuperDoctor 5, and Watch Dog. Supermicro’s Out-of-Band License Key provides remote access to the server.
The 1U rackmount Supermicro SuperStorage 1029P-NESS32R supports dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and 24x DIMM slots. On the front of the system there are 32x hot-swappable PCIe E1.S drive slots for high capacity and fast access storage. Using an optional drive tray, the storage bays can also be configured using NVMe M.2 drives. outfitted with superfast storage options, this platform is ideal for I/O-intensive applications.
