The Supermicro SuperStorage 2028R-E1CR24H is built around the X10DRH-iT motherboard based on the Intel C612 chipset. It supports two Intel Xeon processors from the E5-2600 v4/v3 family. Each CPU supports up to 8x memory module slots, and there are 26x 2.5” drive bays, plus 7x PCIe 3.0 slots.
The 2U Supermicro SuperStorage 2028R-E1CR24H Server features the Aspeed AST2400 baseboard management controller to support the IPMI 2.0 program. The server can support dual Intel Xeon CPUs with up to 22 cores and 16x DDR4 DIMMs for up to 2TB of memory. It supports 24x hot-swap drive bays on the front panel and another 2x on the rear. Ports on the back of the system include, one COM port, a VGA port, four USB ports, two 10G Ethernet ports, a dedicated IPMI LAN port, and two JBOD expansion ports.
The SuperStorage 2028R-E1CR24H server board supports a single or dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 (v3/v4) Series processors. V4 processors can deliver up to 22 cores each, for a total of 44 cores when both CPUs are installed. Each CPU also supports a TDP of up to 145W and a QuickPath Interconnect of up to 9.6 GT/s. The system features a redundant, hot-plug 920W power supply units (PSU) with I2C interface and 80 PLUS Platinum certification.
Supporting up to 2TB of 3DS load reduced (LRDIMM) memory, the 2028R-E1CR24H system features memory that corrects single-bit errors. Regular RDIMMs support up to 512GB with all slots outfitted with 32GB modules. The memory speeds supported include 2400, 2133, 1866, or 1600MHz, but for best performance the memory modules of the same type and speed should be installed. All memory channels will run at the slowest common frequency.
Equipped with up to 26x drive bays, the Supermicro 2028R-E1CR24H chassis can be configured to support SAS3 or SATA3 hard drives. It features 24x hot-swap 2.5” SAS3/SATA3 HDD bays up front with an option for 2x hot-swap 2.5” SATA HDD bays on the rear. The system comes with an AOC-S3108L-H8IR-O-P controller card that can accommodate up to 240 SATA 3.0/SAS 3.0 hard disks. This SuperStorage system leverages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 with a hardware-based controller.
Up to 7x PCIe expansion card can be accommodated on the platform. The server board has six PCI-Express 3.0 x8 slots (CPU1 Slots 1-3 and CPU2 Slots 5-7) and one PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot (CPU2 Slot 4). Two of these slots are populated with the hardware AOC-S3108L-H8IR-O-P controller card and the JBOD expansion card, leaving 5x available PCIe 3.0 slots.
To reduce downtime, the system leverages the Aspeed AST2400 baseboard management controller which supports the IPMI 2.0 compliance. The interface offers fan speed support, CPU support, and drive bay failure monitoring options. It can also be remotely managed with KVM over LAN or Media over LAN but will require the Out-of-Band Management Package available on a per node license. Supermicro’s Datacenter Management Package is also available and provides for managing multiple servers in the datacenter.
As a dual-socket, 2U form factor platform, the Supermicro SuperStorage 2028R-E1CR24H Server supports up to 2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 (v3/v4) Series processors with up to 22 cores each. These CPUs power up to 16x DIMMs with up to 2TB of memory, up to 26x 2.5” SAS3/SATA3 storage bays, and 5x PCIe slots to keep up with data growth in any industry.
