Designed for enterprise-level storage needs, the Supermicro SuperStorage 2029P-DN2R24L is a dual node system with 2x CPU sockets per node. 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors support a total of 12x DIMM slots on the system board of each node. Fully configured, the maximum memory capacity per node is 3TB. Accessible from the front of the chassis, are 24x U.2 PCIe 3.0 Hot-Swap dual port NVMe drive bays, with each node being connected to 12x bays. 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slots plus a Supermicro I/O module (SIOM) on the rear of each node provide options for network connectivity. This system is powered by dual 2000W redundant power supplies.

Each node on the Supermicro 2029P-DN2R24L features dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The hardware configuration on this system limit the Thermal Design Point (TDP) of CPUs to between 70W and 165W. Even with these restrictions CPUs with a physical core count of up to 28x and the virtual threads of up to 56x are supported.
24x U.2 hot-swappable dual-port NVMe drive bays are accessible from the front of this system. Each node is connected to 12x of the 24x drive bays and is supported by a PCIe 3.0 backplane. There is a single M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 drive slot per node, ideal for fast access storage or OS installation. SATA drives are supported by the SATA3 interface which also grants access to RAID levels 0 and 1.
Compatible memory modules include Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM) or Registered DIMMs (RDIMM). Intel Optane DCPMM is also compatible with this system when outfitted with 2nd generation CPUs, codename Cascade Lake. There are a total of 12x DIMM slots on each node with 6x slots per socket. Fully configured the maximum memory capacity of each node is 3TB using 12x 256GB DDR4 RDIMMs or LRDIMMs. Supported memory speeds on this system include 2933MHz, 2666MHz, 2400MHz, and 2133MHz.
System expansion is achieved through a total of 3x PCIe expansion slots on the rear of each node. There are 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 half-height, half-length slots as well as a 1x PCIe 3.0 x16 SIOM slot. Dual RJ45 10GbE Base-T LAN ports are available on each node as well, which will connect this system to the rest of your IT infrastructure.
Each node on this server houses a dedicated RJ45 IPMI LAN port for system management. Supermicro provides a suite of management software which includes the Intel Node Manager, Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, KVM with dedicated LAN, NMI, SSM, SUM, SPM, SuperDoctor 5, and Watchdog. An Out of Band Management Package and Data Center Management Package are optional software utilities.
