Featuring a 2U chassis, the Supermicro SuperStorage 2029P-E1CR48L server offers up to 48 hot-swap SAS3 or SATA3 drive bays with an option for 2x more. With dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors installed, it can support up to 6TB of memory and is compatible with Data Centric Persistent Memory Modules. Ideal for corporate database, data processing and storage plus other high-performance computing applications.
There are 24x hot swap drive bays in front with a pop-up mid-chassis storage bay supporting up to 24x more drive bays. Offering dense storage, the Supermicro SuperStorage 2029P-E1CR48L server is designed to support ISCSI storage area networks, database processing and storage, corporate database, and for use as an enterprise or high-performance server in the data center. Outfitted with dual 2nd generation intel Xeon Scalable processors it can deliver up to 28 cores of processing power per socket for up to 56x total physical cores and up to 128x virtual threads. This is a highly adaptable and scalable platform. Power is provided by dual redundant 1600W Titanium level power supply units (PSU).
This system is compatible with either 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with 4x to 28 physical cores and 56 virtual threads, per socket. Each of the dual processors supports PCIe 3.0 and 6x memory channels with a thermal design point (TDP) of 70 to 165W. Support of 2nd generation processors will require a BIOS update. * To maintain quality and integrity, this product is sold only as a completely-assembled system with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 2x DIMM modules, 12 HDDs, and 1 network interface controller (NIC) or Supermicro I/O module (SIOM) card.
The maximum memory speed of 2933MHz is supported by 2nd generation CPUs, while 1st generation CPUs will only support memory speeds of up to 2666MHz. memory speeds of 2133MHz, 2400MHz and 3133MHz are also supported. Each processor features 6x memory channels and is in charge of 12x memory module sockets for up to 24x active memory module slots with both processors installed. DCPMMs are only supported using 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, which will require a BIOS update if installed in this system.
In total up to 50x drive bays are supported on the Supermicro SuperStorage 2029P-E1CR48L server. That includes 24 front-mounted hot-swap bays, plus a mid-tray storage cage with 24x more drive bays, and an optional 2-bay drive bay mounted in the rear of the chassis that can be used to boot the operating system. It features a SAS3 12Gb/s direct attached backplane that can accommodate either SAS3 or SATA 3 storage media. SATA3 drives are supported natively on this system, while SAS3 drives will require the addition of a discrete HBA/RAID controller.
There are 3x PCIe slots at the back of the chassis and an optional Supermicro I/O module supporting connection speeds of 1GbE and 10GbE with a number of port configuration options.
Remote and at chassis management of the system is handled though the integrated Aspeed AST2500 baseboard management controller (BMC). A dedicate GbE port on the back of the system is used for remote access with ports on the front offering keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) connections for at chassis management. The system is Integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) compliant and in addition to KVM functions offers Medial over LAN capabilities. A number of software utilities provide additional management capabilities like the Intel Node Manager, and a few utilities offered by Supermicro including Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), Supermicro Power Manager (SPM), Supermicro Update Manager (SUM), plus SuperDoctor 5 (SD5) and Watchdog.
The Supermicro SuperStorage 2029P-E1CR48L server offers loads of storage for support of storage area networks, data processing and analytics, plus general network storage. At full capacity it can support up to 50x storage devices with 2x allocated for support of the OS in a redundant RAID ensuring rapid startup and protection from hardware failures with multiple layers of redundancy. Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors it can deliver up to 6TB of memory and is compatible with Intel Optane memory modules providing another layer of resiliency for business data.
