Outfitted with a single Intel Xeon Scalable processor from the first- or second-generation family with up to 28 cores, the Supermicro SuperStorage 5029P-E1CTR12L offers a compact 25.6” chassis. The 2U enclosure supports up to 2TB of DDR4 RDIMMs or LRDIMMs within 8x memory module slots and speeds of up to 2933MHz. It also supports Intel Optane DCPMMs. On the front of the server, there are 12x hot-swap 3.5” SAS/SATA drive bays with SES3, meanwhile the rear can carry 2x optional hot-swap 2.5” NVMe/SATA drive bays. SAS3 drives deliver 12Gbps via a Broadcom 3008 controller, and SATA3 drives offer 6Gb/s via a C622 controller.
Designed to be cost-effective, the Supermicro 5029P-E1CTR12L can be used for application and data serving, connectivity/storage compute nodes, and as a high availability storage appliance platform. This system can accommodate up to 4x PCIe cards with different sizes such as 1x PCIe 3.0 x16, 2x PCIe 3.0 x8, and 1x PCIe 2.0 x4 (in x8). The server also supports 1x M.2 slot with PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA interfaces for 2280 form factor cards. On the back of the chassis, there are dual 800W Titanium level redundant power supplies. To manage the system, Supermicro’s SuperDoctor 5 monitors the hardware health or availability of the target node systems in data centers real-time and provides alerts to administrators.
