The Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12H server is a dual socket system compatible with 1st and 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This system is suitable for corporate database, high-performance computing, iSCSI SAN, and more. There’s a total of 16x memory module slots and the front of the system houses 12x 3.5” drive bays while the rear holds 2x 2.5” drive bays.
Designed for database processing and storage, enterprise server, and data center applications, the 2U Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12H is a compatible with second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, as well as first-generation CPUs. There are a total of 16x DIMM slots on the system board, with 8x DIMM slots per CPU socket. The system board has a total of 7x PCIe expansion slots and can also accommodate U.2 NVMe in 4x of the front storage bays and 2x optional M.2 NVMe drives for quick access storage or to boot the OS.
The thermal design point (TDP) for the SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12H includes 70W-205W with 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. CPUs within this TDP range can support up to 28 cores and 56 threads. Each CPU features 6x memory channels, and can be outfitted with Intel Optane DC Persistent (DCPMM) memory modules with NVMe storage support. All of these components are powered by 1200W Titanium level redundant power supplies with PMBus.
With a total of 16x memory module slots, the Supermicro 6029P-E1CR12H server board can deploy up to 4TB of memory evenly distributed across the two processors. DDR4 Registered DIMMs, Load Reduced DIMMs, and Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules (DCPMM) are compatible with this system. Up to 4x DCPMMs can be installed. Memory speeds of up to 2933MHz are only supported by second-generation CPUs and only platinum-level and gold-level processors support DCPMMs.
On the front of the 6029P-E1CR12H platform there are 12x hot-swap 3.5” SAS/SATA drive bays and an additional 2x hot-swap 2.5” SATA drive bays on the rear of the chassis. Four of the front storage bays offer optional support for U.2 NVMe storage devices. On the server board, you will find or 2x PCIe 3.0 slots for optional M.2 NVMe drives. The system carries a SAS3 12Gb/s expander storage backplane and a Broadcom 3108 AOC controller for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60. SATA3 can be RAIDed at 0, 1, 5, 10 using the onboard controller.
As mentioned in the section above, the system supports 2x optional M.2 NVMe drives in x4 PCIe slots adjacent to the CPU and memory module slots. Furthermore, it features 7x PCIe 3.0 slots. Three of those slots are x16 and the remaining 4x are x8 slots. It’s important to note that slots 2 and 3 are occupied by an AOC-S3108L-H8IR controller and JBOD expansion port. A single integrated Platform Management interface (IPMI) port on the back of the system plus 2x integrated 10GBase-T LAN ports provide high-speed network access, which can be augmented with additional add-on-cards (AOC) supporting other port connections and bandwidth options.
Supermicro provides a variety of management options with both local and remote access. A suite of software management choices includes the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0), SUM, NMI, Watch Dog, and SuperDoctor 5 (SD5). An optional Out-of-Band Management Package (OOB software license) is required for out of band management of the system on a per-node basis.
The Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12H server is built to standout with applications requiring storage-intensive performance. With a dual socket second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, 4TB of DDR4 memory, and up to 14x hot-swap storage bays with optional NVMe support, this server can help businesses scale out as their needs grow.
