With dual 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12T server offers up to 4TB of ECC DDR4 memory. The 2U rackmount server is built to provide the best performance, scalability, and flexibility to run mission-critical workloads with support for up to 12x 3.5-inch drive bays plus options for NVMe and 2x more bays in back.
The Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12T server is an enterprise server with support for two first- or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs that can be used for corporate databases and high-performance computing, among others. Offering up to 4TB of memory with support for Intel Optane DC Persistent 200 series memory modules, the 2U chassis has a total of 14x hot-swap drive bays and supports SATA3 by default. It can also be outfitted with NVMe drives for greater speed offering a tiered storage configuration.
The Super X11 motherboard on the Supermicro 6029P-E1CR12T supports Intel Xeon Scalable processors from either the first or second generation. Memory speeds of up to 2933MHz are supported with second generation CPUs, while 1st generation CPUs will provide speeds of up to 2666MHz. Processors with a TDP ranging from 70 to 205W can be installed and deliver up to 28 physical cores and 56 virtual threads per socket. 1200W redundant power supplies ensure maximum uptime in the event a module fails, and the 80 Plus Titanium rating results in less waste heat, which lowers cooling costs and improves system stability.
The SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12T has 16x memory module slots, and uses a 6-channel memory architecture with 8x slots per CPU. With a maximum speed of 2933MHz, the server supports a maximum capacity of up to 4TB of error-correcting code (ECC) DDR4 memory. Memory types that can be installed on this system include regular Registered (RDIMM) or Load Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules, plus 3DS memory modules and data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM). Non-Volatile (NVDIMM) memory modules can also be used if installing 1st generation CPUs but they require a battery to ensure data storage in the event of a power outage. In addition, only Platinum-level and Gold-level 2nd generation processors support Intel Optane DCPMMs.
The front panel on the 6029P-E1CR12T server houses 12x hot-swap 3.5” SAS3 or SATA3 drive bays. The rear of the chassis holds 2x hot-swap 2.5” SATA3 drive bays. 4x of the front storage bays can be converted to support NVMe drive formats but does require additional hardware, including an optional backplane. Similarly, the system’s motherboard offers the option for 2x M.2 NVMe drives for superfast storage or to boot the operating system. The server comes with a pre-installed Broadcom 3108 add-on card, which has 2 mini-SAS connectors and 8 SAS ports. SAS Hardware RAID of 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 is supported by the Broadcom controller to accommodate users' needs for speed and redundancy. The onboard controller can provide software RAID options for SATA drives of 0, 1, 5, and 10.
Integrated dual 10GBase-T LAN ports with Intel X722 + PHY Intel X557 fulfill the demands of high-volume data transfers over the network. The server can also accommodate up to 7x PCIe slots, although slot 3 is already occupied with the Broadcom controller. Three of these slots house PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and the remaining 4x are PCIe 3.0 x8 slots to easily configure the system for corporate database, high-performance computing, and iSCSI SAN applications.
The Supermicro SuperDoctor 5 is a proprietary application with a command-line or web-based interface that keeps track of system health indicators like CPU temperature, system voltages, system power usage, and fan speed. It also sends out notifications through email or SNM protocol (SNMP). Similarly, the system is Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0 (IPMI) compatible with a dedicated mLAN port to access the baseboard management controller (BMC) and is used to offer management, monitoring, and remote access to the system.
Powered by dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs from the 1st or 2nd generation, the Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR12T delivers high-performance storage configurations for a number of diverse workloads in its 2U chassis. It can be configured to support a maximum of 4TB of memory when all 16x DIMM slots are populated, plus offers 12x drive bays on the front of the panel and 2x more on the rear with an option for NVMe drive formats. Generous PCIe expansion slot options make this server ideal for any corporate business looking to expand its database, storage or analytics capabilities.
