The Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR16T is a high-performance enterprise system built around a two-socket motherboard supporting 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs. The processors power 14x drive bays with SFF and LFF configurations in a 2U rackmount form factor. This system is ideal as a corporate database, database processing and storage, and more.
The 2U Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR16T is built with support for dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the first- or second-generation family. It offers up to 4TB of memory with support for Intel Optane data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM), plus 3x PCIe3.0 x16 and 4x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots. One of these slots is occupied by a Broadcom 3108 controller. This system can support SATA natively or be configure for SAS, with an option for 4x NVMe drives on the front panel.
Fueled by dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st and 2nd generation, The SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR16T can support CPUs with a TDP ranging from 70-205W. Second-generation CPUs on the Super X11 motherboard provide up to 28 cores and up to 4TB of registered (RDIMM) memory. 2933MHz memory is only supported by 2nd gen processors, with 1st generation CPUs delivering memory speeds of up to 2666MHz. The server has a 1600W redundant hot-plug power supply consisting of 2x power modules. Each power supply module features an auto-switching feature that enables it to automatically detect and function at an input voltage range of 100V to 240V.
There are 16x memory module slots on the Intel-based system board. Intel Optane Persistent memory modules (DCPMM) are only supported on the Supermicro 6029P-E1CR16T when 2nd gen CPUs are installed. In comparison to the current memory modules, DCPMM delivers data durability with more capacity at lower latencies. DCPMMs also offer hyper-speed storage capability for high-performance computing platforms with flexible configuration options. Using RDIMMs, the system can be outfitted with up to 4TB of memory when all 16x slots are populated.
Equipped with a total of 16x hybrid hot-swap storage bays, there are 12x 3.5" hard drives on the front of the chassis, 4x internal 3.5” drives mounted in individual hard drive trays on a chassis tray, and an additional 2x 2.5” drive bays on the rear of the platform. The server comes with a Broadcom 3108 SAS 12Gb/s controller card with a 2GB cache and support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60. Additionally, the motherboard has 2x PCI-E M.2 slots which allow for a variety of card sizes and offer increased functionality and spatial efficiency. The M.2 socket supports SSD cards in the 2260, 2280, and 22110 form factors.
The 6029P-E1CR16T can accommodate up to seven low-profile add-on cards in the PCIe slots on the server board. Slot 3 is occupied by a controller. The system also provides onboard dual 10Gb/s Intel Ethernet Controller X722 and X557 RJ45 ports and dedicated mLAN RJ45 port for IPMI 2.0 remote management with KVM and remote virtual media mount.
An exclusive management connection for out-of-band management is located on the back of the platform and provides access to the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0. Monitoring the condition and accessibility of hardware assets in the data center is also possible with Supermicro's SuperDoctor5 (SD5). It offers an easy-to-use HTML 5 and command line interface.
The Supermicro SuperStorage 6029P-E1CR16T is powered by dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st and 2nd generation with up to 28 cores each, and up to 56 cores with both processors installed. The 2U chassis houses up to 16x storage bays including those on the front panel, the interior, and the rear. 16x DIMM slots on the system board can be outfitted with DDR4 RDIMMs or LRDIMMS but also offer DCPMM compatibility. Users can easily configure the system for corporate database, database processing and storage, iSCSI SAN applications, and more.
