The Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR24H is a rack-optimized, dual-processor server ideal for corporate database, high-performance computing, database processing and storage, iSCSI SAN, and more. Its 4U design packs powerful hardware including room for up to 16x memory modules and up to 26x 3.5-inch drive bays.
The Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR24H server supports two processors from the 1st or 2nd generation of Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs for a maximum memory capacity of 4TB. The server offers 24x SAS3/SATA3 front-loading, 3.5-inch drive bays, 2x additional SATA3 2.5-inch drive bays in the rear, plus 2x M.2 NVMe on the motherboard. All drive bays are hot-swappable, making them easy to upgrade or service without having to shut off the system.
The Supermicro 6049P-E1CR24H server is compatible with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the first or second generation, topped with a 2.5” tall heatsink. Each socket can support CPUs with up to 28 cores and 56 threads for a total of 56 cores and 112 threads between both CPUs. The 14nm process technology supports a thermal design power (TDP) of up to 205W, which includes the entire Intel Xeon Scalable processor family for options when choosing processors. With both processors installed, there are 16x active DIMM slots divided between the two processors. with up to 4TB of memory, including Intel Optane DC Persistent memory (DCPMM). In addition, there are 3x hot-swap 8cm cooling fans on the inside of the chassis and an additional 2x hot-swap 8cm rear exhaust fans, which are situated next to the 1200W Titanium level (96%) redundant power supplies.
With a two-processor configuration, the SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR24H system can support up to 4TB of registered (RDIMM) or load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory. Up to 4x Intel Optane DC Persistent memory (DCPMM) modules can be installed but only with 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Each offers a unique memory technology. LRDIMM and RDIMM modules cannot be mixed within the system. Depending on the choice of memory module, CPU and configuration memory speeds ranging from 2133MHz to 2933MHz are supported. Only Platinum- level and Gold-level processors support Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory Modules (DCPMM), which must be paired with DRAM modules in varying combinations.
Up to 26x drive bays can be configured on the 6049P-E1CR24H chassis. There are 24x front-loading 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drive bays on the front of the server, plus an additional 2x 2.5-inch SATA drive bays can be mounted on the rear of the system with an optional drive kit. All hard drives are hot-swappable and benefit from adequate ventilation due to a unique drive carrier design. All carriers, even those with no drives mounted, must stay in the chassis. The server includes dual x4 NVMe slots on the motherboard that can be used to host the operating system using one or two NVMe M.2 drives. The Intel integrated C622 chipset supports SATA RAID configurations of 0, 1, 5, and 10. The SAS add-on-Card (AOC) supports hardware RAID levels of 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60. PCIe slots 2 and 3 are occupied by the RAID controller and JBOD expansion port.
There are 7x PCIe expansion slots on the server board that can accommodate PCIe 3.0 x8 and x16 cards. Four PCIe 3.0 x8 slots are supported by one processor, while the remaining 3x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots are supported by the other. Slots 2 and 3, which are supported by each CPU, are occupied by a RAID controller and a JBOD expansion card.
The Supermicro 6049P-E1CR24H can be managed by Supermicro’s management software suite. Users can remotely power the server, virtually install and adjust the operating system, and more. The suite includes SuperDoctor5 (SD5), Watch Dog, SPM, SSM, SUM, NMI, Redfish API, and Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0). System health indicators like CPU temperature, system voltages, system power usage, and fan speed are tracked by SD5. It can be used with a command-line interface or a web browser and is able to send alerts via email or SNM Protocol (SNMP).
