Supporting front and rear LFF drive bays, the Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR36L is a dual-socket server featuring 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The Super X11 motherboard supports both regular DIMMs and Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules, which can populate the 16x DIMM slots on the system. This system platform is ideal for working with CPU-intensive storage, virtual storage, data replication, business continuity, and more.
Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 2nd generation, the Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR36L can support up to 4TB of memory and is compatible with Intel Optane data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM). The 4U system offers front and rear storage access using 3.5” drive bays for a total of 38x hybrid storage bays with SATA, SAS, or NVMe configurations. This platform comes with 7x PCIe 3.0 slots, with 1x of them occupied by a controller and the other a JBOD expansion port.
The X11 series motherboard supports dual sockets for Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs. It is possible to use processors from either the first- or second-generation with up to 28 cores and a TDP ranging from 70W to 205W. Memory can operate at up to 2666MHz when Gen1 CPUs are used, and at 2933MHz when Gen2 processors are used. Each processor supports 6x memory channels with 8x slots per socket and a total of 16x DIMMs total. It can accommodate up to 4TB of memory in a two-processor configuration.
Only second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs are compatible with Intel Optane memory modules. The Supermicro 6049P-E1CR36L also supports Registered (RDIMM) and Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules, which can operate at up to 2933MT/s using second-generation CPUs or at up to 2633MT/s using first-generation processors. In a two-processor setup, each CPU supports 8x memory module slots, for a total of 16x slots. At full capacity, the Supermicro 6049P-E1CR36L is equipped to support a total of 4TB of memory using a combination of DCPMM modules and standard DDR4 DRAM modules.
24x 3.5” hot-swap drive bays line the front of the 6049P-E1CR36L server along with the 12x LFF drive bays on the rear of the chassis. 4x of the drives on the rear are reserved for optional NVMe, while the remaining drive bays on the server support SATA and SAS. Just above these drive bays, there are two more 2.5" SATA storage bays. In addition, 2x M.2 NVMe slots are available on the motherboard which can be used to boot the operating system. SAS drive implementations will require a Broadcom 3008 SAS3 add-on-card (AOC).
The Supermicro 6049P-E1CR36L can accommodate 4x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots and 3x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. Slots 2 and 3 are occupied by a controller and JBOD expansion port. Dual integrated ports in back provide 10Gb/s access speeds and are located adjacent to the remote management port via an Intel X722 and PHY Intel X557 network controller.
On the back of the platform, the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 is accessible via a dedicated RJ45 connection for out-of-band management of the system. Supermicro's SuperDoctor5 (SD5) is another option for keeping track of the health and accessibility of hardware assets. IIt has an intuitive command line interface and HTML 5 interface. Additional software tools include the Intel Node Manager, Supermicro Power Manager (SPM) and Supermicro Update Manager (SUM).
Supermicro offers a comprehensive selection of 4U servers with a range of memory, storage, and network communication options. Outfitted with dual 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs, plus up to 36x hybrid drive bays and support for up to 4TB of memory, this system can easily support applications in corporate database, database processing and storage, use as an Enterprise Server and for HPC and ISCSI SAN. The 4U, dual-socket Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR36L is highly adaptable and delivers substantial up-front and rear storage to support your business.
