It supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 6TB of memory at capacity.
At 4U in height, the Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR45L+ has 45 total storage bays capable of supporting 3.5-inch SAS3 or SATA3 storage formats, including 2x hot-swap storage bays in the rear. Optionally, the system will also support up to 6x NVMe drive bays in a separate drive cage bringing the total possible storage devices to 53. The 2x socket system is compatible with either 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors but 2nd gen processors will require a BIOS update. The Thermal Design Point includes processors ranging from 70w to 205W, and includes CPUs with up to 28 physical cores and 56 virtual threads. At full capacity it can host up to 6TB of memory in 24 DIMM slots. With 3x PCIe slots and a Supermicro I/O Module there are several options for network connectivity. The system is powered by dual redundant 1600W Platinum level PSUs.

Administrators can choose from either 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, each offering up to 28 physical cores and 56 virtual threads. CPUs can range from a TDP of 70W to 205W. These processors support PCIe 3.0 and 6x memory channels. Only 2nd generation CPUs are compatible with Data Centric Persistent Memory Modules, or DCPMM.
Designed for database processing and storage, the Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR45L+ server has 45x hot-swap 3.5-inch SAS3/SATA3 storage bays with SUSE Enterprise Storage (SES3) enabling scalable, resiliency. There are 2x 2.5-inch SATA3 storage bays in the rear panel adjacent to the redundant PSUs, that can also be configured for SAS storage. An optional NVMe drive cage installs towards the back of the chassis and supports up to 6x additional hot-swap NVMe storage devices. The 3.5-inch drive trays used for the main storage can accommodate 2.5-inch drives without a converter tray.
With 24x active memory modules slots with both processors installed, each CPU is in charge of 12x memory module slots, for 24x active memory module slots with both processors and a total capacity of up to 6TB of memory. Registered (RDIMM) or Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported with either 1st or 2nd generation CPUs. However, 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors are also DCPMMs for greater speed and resiliency. Memory will operate at speeds of 2933MHz, 2666MHz, or 2133MHz depending on CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration. Speeds of 2933MHz are possible with 2x DIMM modules installed per memory channel.
Along with a Supermicro I/O Module (SIOM) slot on the back of the Supermicro 6049P-E1CR45L+ Server offering 2 to 4 ports with 1GbE to 10G SFP+, there are 3x PCIe slots. Given this system is compatible only with 1st and 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors all slots are PCIe 3.0. 2x of the slots are x16 and the other has a x8 slot. A dedicated PCIe 3.0 slot on the system board is dedicated for a SAS HBA/RAID storage controller Add-On-Module (AOM). A network card or SIOM card is required at time of purchase.
Remote management of the system is via the integrated Platform Management Interface 2.0, or IPMI. IPMI 2.0 also supports virtual media over LAN and KVM-over-LAN support. Additional management software utilities include intel’s node Manager, Supermicro SuperDoctor 5 (SD5), and Supermicro Watchdog.
