The Supermicro Twin SuperServer 2028TR-HTR is a 2U rack-mountable system featuring Supermicro’s Twin architecture with 4x server nodes. It supports dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4 /v3 family processors with 6x hot-swappable 2.5-inch drive bays available per node. Fully configured, the maximum memory capacity on this system is 4TBs or 1TB per server node.
Designed for cloud services, data centers, and hyperscale application, the Supermicro Twin SuperServer 2028TR-HTR houses 4x server nodes each featuring dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4/v3 family. Each CPU socket supports 4x DIMM slots for a total of 8x slots on the system board. The maximum supported memory on each server node is 1TB. Each node is connected to 6x 2.5-inch hot-swappable SATA3 drive bays which are accessible from the front of the system. In addition, a single PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slot can be found on the back of the system. 2x 1600W Titanium-level power supplies provide 1 + 1 Redundancy.
The hardware configuration on this system supports dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4/v3 CPUs with a maximum Thermal Design Point (TDP) of 145W. These restrictions mean that CPUs with up to 22x physical cores and 44x virtual threads are compatible. E5-2600 V3 and V4 CPUs support 4 memory channels and memory speeds of up to 2400MHz.
There are a total of 24x hot-swappable 2.5-inch SATA3 drive bays available on this chassis. Each node on the Supermicro 2028TR-HTR is connected to 6x of the drive bays. In addition, there are 2x SATA device on module (SATA DOM) slots on the system board that can be used for additional storage or to support the OS.
Compatible memory modules on this system include ECC DDR4 Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM), Registered DIMMs (RIDMM), and 3DS LRDIMMs. Each of the four nodes houses 8x DIMM slots evenly split between each CPU socket. The maximum memory capacity per node is 1TB using 128GB 3DS LRDIMM modules. Memory speeds supported on this system include 2400 MHz, 2133MHz, 1866MHz, and 1600MHz depending on CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration.
System expansion is achieved through a single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot on the rear of each server node. 2x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports are also available on each node to connect this system to the rest of your IT infrastructure.
Supermicro provides a suite of software management options including SuperDoctor 5 and Watch Dog. A single RJ45 LAN port is dedicated to the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 which grants access to both remote management and at chassis management tools. Access to the baseboard management controller (BMC) is provided by a dedicated RJ45 mLAN port on the back of each server node.
