Nodes house 3x PCIe 3.0 expansion slots on their rear. Power is provided at the chassis level with 2x 1200W Redundant Titanium Level power supplies.
Powered by dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4/v3, the Supermicro Twin SuperServer 6028TR-D72R restricts the Thermal Design Point (TDP) to 145W. This limits the CPU options to those with up to 22x physical cores and 44x virtual threads. E-2600 v4 CPUs support memory speeds up to 2400MHz while the v3 versions support up to 2133MHz.
Each node on the Supermicro SuperServer 6028TR-D72R is connected to 6x of the 3.5-inch hot-swap SAS2/SATA3 drive bays in front for a total of 12x drive bays on the whole system. SAS2 drives are supported via Broadcom 2208 with hardware RAID support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and 50 levels. There are 2x SATA DOM slots on the system board that can be used to support the OS.
Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM), Registered DIMMs (RDIMM), or 3DS LRDIMMs are compatible with this system. Each node supports 8x DIMM slots evenly divided between each CPU socket. Fully configured, the maximum memory capacity on each node is 1TB using 128GB 3DS LRDIMM memory modules in all slots. With both nodes at full capacity the system will support up to 2TB of memory. Memory speeds available on this system include 2400MHz, 2133MHz, 1866MHz, and 1600MHz.
3x PCIe expansion slots found on the rear of each node provide options for I/O and storage controllers. 1x of those slots is a PCIe 3.0 x8 low-profile slot, while the other two slots are PCIe 3.0 x8 full-height, half-length slots. Each node has dual RJ45 GbE ethernet ports which can connect this server to the rest of your IT infrastructure.
Supermicro provides many management options to manage the Supermicro 6028TR-D72R. SuperDoctor 5 and Watch Dog are proprietary applications. Each node has a single dedicated Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) LAN port which connects to the integrated ASPEED AST2400 Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) for at chassis and remote management of the system.
