The Supermicro Twin SuperServer 6029TR-DTR is a 2U 2-node high-performance system. Each node supports dual first- or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 2TB of memory, and 6x hot-swap 3.5” SATA drive bays. The server is equipped with 1200W redundant titanium level power supplies and boasts 6x PCIe slots for expandability.
Ideal for virtualization, data centers, and web servers, the Supermicro Twin SuperServer 6029TR-DTR 2U chassis has 12x front storage bays and two hot-pluggable nodes. There are 8x memory module slots per node for up to 2TB of memory with both processors installed. As for storage, the nodes each have 6x hot-swap 3.5-inch drive bays plus an M.2 SATA/NVMe slot for extra storage.
Powering the SuperServer 6029TR-DTR are two Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st or 2nd generation, in each node, with a thermal design point (TDP) from 70W to 140W. Each processor supports up to 22 cores, for a total of 88 cores with all 4x processors. The server also includes two 1200W hot-plug power supply modules for redundancy. If one of the power modules fails, the other will take over the complete load and the system and continue to function normally.
There are a full set of four memory modules per socket and 8x per node. When 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs populate the DIMMs they each support up to 2TB of 3DS ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM DDR4 memory with speeds of up to 2933MHz. When 1st generation CPUs are installed, up to 1TB of memory is supported with speeds of up to 2666MHz.
Fitting in a 2U enclosure, each of the two nodes are allocated 6x drive bays for up to 12x hot-swap 3.5” SATA3 HDD trays on the front of the chassis. The server sleds each support a single M.2 SATA/NVMe slot, for more storage or to boot the OS. 2x SATA Disk on Module (DOM) slots are also found on the system board and can be used to support the OS.
The Supermicro 6029TR-DTR offers support for 6x PCIe 3.0 slots total on the back of the system, with each node in charge of 3x slots. Each node comes with one preinstalled riser card, which is optimized for usage in a 2U rackmount chassis and provides 2x PCIe 3.0 x8 FH/HL slots or 1x PCIe 3.0 x8 slot along with 2x PCIe 3.0 x4 slots. This riser card supports 3x PCIe x8 cards for additional connectivity.
For remote management, the server supports several software programs. However, to access the system remotely, you will need to install the out-of-band management package, which has a per node license model. In addition to Watchdog, SuperDoctor 5, and Intel Node Manager, the server is compatible with the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0). The dedicated management port on the back of the server provides access to power, restart functionality, and statistics about the motherboard including temperature, voltages, and inventory.
The Supermicro Twin SuperServer 6029TR-DTR is a dense 2U serve that can house two independent nodes, each with dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs from either the 1st or 2nd generation. The front of the device presents 12x hot-swap 3.5” drive bays, half of the drive bays are allocated to each node. The server also supports M.2 slots and PCIe slots for more flexibility and better performance.
