The Supermicro Twin SuperServer 620TP-HTTR is a 2U system which houses 4x independent server nodes. Each node supports dual sockets, compatible with the 3rd generation of the Intel Xeon Scalable processor family. A total of 16x DIMM slots are available on the system board of each node divided evenly between each socket. There are a total of 12x 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays in front with each node supporting 3x bays.
Designed for High-Performance Computing, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, and Big Data/Big Science applications, the Supermicro Twin SuperServer 620TP-HTTR holds a total of 8x CPU sockets across its four nodes. The system is compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors offering more and faster memory, PCIe 4.0, plus better performance. Each socket supports 8x DIMM slots for a total of 16x DIMM slots on the system board of each server node. Storage solutions for this system include 3x 3.5-inch hot-swappable SATA drive bays per node. In addition, there is a single M.2 adapter which supports dual NVMe M.2 drives in each server node.
The hardware specifications on the Supermicro SuperServer 620TP-HTTR limit the Thermal Design Point (TDP) to 185W. It should also be noted that processors with a TDP 150W or above will require additional hardware. Given this limitation, a maximum of 32x Physical Cores and 64x Virtual Thread 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors are compatible with this system.
3x hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA drive bays are assigned to each node and operate at 6Gb/s speeds. There are 12x total 3.5-inch storage bays on the front of the system. A single PCIe 4.0 x8 slot holds an M.2 adapter with support for dual NVMe 22x80 M.2 drives. The fast-access M.2 drives are reserved for OS installation. The Intel C621A chipset found on the Supermicro 620TP-HTTR server supports RAID configurations of 0, 1, and 5. Additional RAID configurations are available through the recommended discrete RAID controller.
A total of 16x DIMM slots can be found on the system board of each node. Compatible memory modules on this system are limited to DRAM DDR4 RDIMM ECC modules. When fully configured, the Supermicro Twin 620TP-HTTR server houses a maximum of 4TB using 16x 256GB DDR4 DRAM modules. The available memory speeds on this system include 3200MHz/2933MHz/2666MHz depending on the chosen CPU and memory configuration.
To expand the system there are 2x PCIe 4.0 x16 low-profile slots on each node. In addition, there is a single PCIe 4.0 x8 slot which houses an M.2 adapter. This adapter support 1x or 2x NVMe M.2 drives for OS installation only, and with 2x drives can operate in mirror mode for redundancy.
Supermicro’s management software suite includes the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, Redfish API, SSM, Intel Node Manager, SPM, KVM with dedicated LAN, SUM, NMI, Watch Dog, and SuperDoctor5 (SD5). Remote access for each server node is available for system management via Supermicro’s Out of Band (OOB) Software License key.
The Supermicro Twin SuperServer 620TP-HTTR quad server node system offers support for up to 2x Processors per node for a potential 8x CPUs total in the 2U chassis. Dual sockets in each server node are compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. With 16x DIMM slots on each of the 4x nodes, there are a total of 64x DIMM slots across the whole system, and the potential for up to 16TB of memory. The front of the chassis houses 12x 3.5-inch SATA drive bays with 3x drive bays allocated to each node. 2x NVMe M.2 drives via PCIe adapter are available in each server node for support of the OS. This system is designed for High Performance Computing, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, plus Big Data/Big Science applications.
