Supermicro’s TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HC0R is a powerful eight-socket, 4-node chassis designed for financial analysis, high-performance computing, and mission-critical applications. Each server node supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st or 2nd generation with up to 28 cores and up to 4TB of memory.
As a 4-node 2U system, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HC0R server can be used to support compute-intensive applications in the data center. Featuring dual sockets within each of the 4x nodes, it also offers support for Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules depending on your choice of processors.
The TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HC0R uses Intel’s C621 chipset and supports up to 8x Intel Xeon Scalable processors total, with dual CPUs allocated to each node. The server supports either first- or second-generation processors. Each CPU features up to 28 cores and 56 threads, plus a thermal design point (TDP) of 70W to 165W. In addition, each processor supports 8x memory sockets for a total of 16x memory module sockets with two CPUs.
With dual processors, each node on the 6029TP-HC0R will support 16x DIMMs and a maximum of 4TB of memory using either registered (RDIMM) or load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules operating at up to 2933MHz when 2nd gen Intel CPUs are installed. Memory modules should be populated first in the blue slots, then in the black slots. The server also supports Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules (DCPMM) with second-generation Intel Xeon’s.
Twelve hot-swap 3.5” drive bays up front can be loaded with SAS or SATA hard disk drives. 3x storage bays are assigned to each of the four server nodes on the system. A Broadcom 3008 SAS3 12Gb/s controller is needed for SAS configurations. The server also supports an M.2 add-on-card (AOC) that can be outfitted with either 2x SATA or 1x NVMe drive. Alternatively, two SuperDOMs can be installed on each motherboard. Both the M.2 drives and SuperDOMs are used to boot the operating system; therefore, they cannot exist together.
A pre-installed riser card on each blade server supports standard size PCIe x16 cards. Each node has access to 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 low-profile slots and a single Super I/O Module (SIOM) card. The SIOM card has a dedicated slot on the motherboard. There is also a slot on the motherboard for a single NVMe or 2x SATA M.2 to boot the OS. *Barebone or complete systems require SIOM or network card installed per node.
The Supermicro 6029TP-HC0R server nodes use Supermicro’s management software SuperDoctor 5. This program can be accessed from a standard browser and monitors the hardware health either remotely or at-chassis in data centers and provides alerts to administrators in the event of hardware failure. SuperDoctor 5 can be configured to send alerts and monitors fan speed, power consumption, disk health, RAID health, and more.
Suitable for conquering high-performance computing workloads, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HC0R supports 4x individual nodes each with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from either the 1st or 2nd generation. The 2U chassis provides 12x drive bays up front, with 3x allocated to each server node. In addition, the blade servers also support Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules and up to 2x M.2 drives to boot the operating system.
