As a 2U TwinPro SuperServer configuration, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HTR platform is outfitted with four system boards acting as four independent server nodes. Each node features dual 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, codenamed Cascade Lake and Skylake. The server also supports Intel Optane DC Persistent memory when 2nd generation Intel CPUs are installed.
Ideal for compute-intensive applications, financial analysis, and mission-critical applications, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HTR can be configured with up to 2x M.2 cards per node to support the operating system. Each node can be configured with either 1x NVMe or 2x SATA M.2 for a total of 8x total within the system. The SuperServer also features 12x 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays with SATA support, for a total of 3x drive bays per node.
*Barebone or complete system requires an SIOM or network card installed per node.
Generating power for all 4x nodes on the TwinPro SuperServer is a dual 2200W power supplies, which can be turned off independently of the other via the power button on its own control panel. Each node can be removed from the rear of the chassis and are connected to the server backplane by means of an adapter card. On the motherboard of each node, there are dual sockets for either 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. These CPUs support up to 28 cores with a thermal design point (TDP) of 70W to 165W and a dual UPI up to 10.4GT/s. Support for 2nd Gen Intel CPUs, codenamed Cascade Lake-R, requires BIOS version 3.2 or higher.
*For full access to PCIe slots, DIMM slots, and onboard controllers, both CPUs must be installed.
To maximize memory capacity, all memory module slots must be populated. Each node on the TwinPro 6029TP-HTR supports 16x DIMM slots featuring registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM), or Intel Optane DC Persistent (DCPMM) memory modules. Up to 4TB of 3DS ECC DDR4 RDIMM/LRDIMM, and up to 2TB of DCPMM is available. DCPMM, which offers data persistence with higher capacity at lower latencies, can only be used when 2nd Gen Intel CPUs are installed. The highest memory speed of 2933MHz can only be achieved with second-generation processors, otherwise, memory speeds range from 2666MHz down to 2133MHz.
The SuperServer 6029TP-HTR contains 4x individual server boards in separate node drawers. Each node controls a set of 3x hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives. The front panel drives must be standard 1-inch-high hard disk drives. An optional M.2 add-on-card (AOC) fits in a slot adjacent to the memory modules for CPU1 which can be configured to support 1x NVMe or 2x SATA M.2 (22x80/60/42mm). Two Supermicro Disk on Module (SuperDOM) can also be installed but occupy the same space as the optional M.2 AOC.
Each node accommodates up to 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 low-profile slots and a single Supermicro I/O Module (SIOM) card. The SIOM offers flexible networking options, while the dedicated RJ45 port on the rear of the chassis offers support for the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0) for remote management with KVM and remote virtual media mount. In addition to this hardware, there are also 2x SuperDOMs on the motherboard and support for 1x NVMe or 2x SATA M.2 slots to boot the OS, but they cannot exist together.
To manage the system, the Supermicro 6029TP-HTR can be accessed using a variety of software programs. Watchdog, IPMI 2.0, SuperDoctor 5 and others can be used to monitor the system. SuperDoctor 5 controls the system’s CPU temperature, voltage, power consumption, and fan speed either remotely or at-chassis.
Designed for high-performance computing, financial analysis, mission-critical applications, and more, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 6029TP-HTR is a 2U platform with 4x powerful nodes. Each node supports up to 16x DIMMs with support for standard DDR4 and DCPMM memory modules, 3x hot-swap 3.5” storage bays, 2x SuperDOMs, 2x SATA M.2 slots, and support for dual 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs. This TwinPro server is able to increase data center performance and allows businesses to grow creatively.
