The Supermicro’s SuperServer SYS-510P-M 1U chassis is optimized for small businesses, web applications, and email/firewall workloads. As a mini-chassis for SMBs, the motherboard holds the essentials. It features a single CPU 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor with support for up to 3TB of memory when using Intel Optane persistent 200 series (PMem) memory modules. The system also supports 4x 3.5” NVMe or SATA drive bays on the front of the chassis.
A single Intel Xeon Scalable CPU from the 3rd generation of Intel processors, codename Ice Lake, powers the mini Supermicro SuperServer 510P-M. The X12 motherboard holds 8x memory modules with up to 3TB of memory when PMem are augmented with regular memory modules.
A single 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor with a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 220W can be installed. With up to 40 cores and 80 threads to work with, the slim 1U SuperServer 510P-M system supports 8x memory channels with 8x memory module slots delivering up to 3TB of memory, but only when PMem modules are installed.
There are 8x memory slots on the Supermicro 510P-M server system board. The single 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor supports the new Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series (PMem) technology running at speeds of up to 3200MHz. Intel Optane PMem 200 series offer data persistence at higher capacities with lower latencies than existing memory modules. It also provides hyper-speed storage capabilities for higher performance computing platforms with flexible configuration options. Up to 2TB of memory is supported when regular memory modules are installed. The server offers support for registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM), and RDIMM/LRDIMM 3DS memory modules with speeds of up to 3200MHz in 8x slots. Mixed DIMM speeds can be installed, but all DIMMs will run at the speed of the slowest DIMM.
For storage, the Intel C621A chipset powers 4x 3.5-inch NVMe or SATA drive bays on the front of the chassis with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 arrays, using the integrated software HD/RAID controller. These drives are hot-swappable and tool-less drive trays make for easy installation and removal, plus provide proper airflow. The 510P-M platform also supports two M.2 SATA3/NVMe slots with both 2280 and 22110 M.2 form factors for support of the OS without sacrificing the up-front storage bays.
There is only one full-height, half-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot on the SYS-510P-M motherboard. The platform also supports two M.2 SATA3/NVMe slots with both 2280 and 22110 M.2 form factors. On the I/O back panel there are two Gigabit ethernet ports, plus a dedicated IPMI LAN, all of which accept RJ45 cables.
The system supports the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0) which provides remote access, monitoring, and management through the baseboard management controller (BMC) and other management controllers distributed among different system modules. Management programs include SuperDoctor 5 (SD5), Watch Dog, Redfish API, Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), and Intel Node Manager.
As a single-socket server, the Supermicro SuperServer 510P-M is smaller in size but optimized for high-performance, high-end computing platforms that address the needs of next generation server applications. The Supermicro X12 generation motherboard supports a single 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, code name Ice Lake, and 4x 3.5” drive bays with support for NVMe and SATA on the front panel. The system also supports the latest technology featuring Intel’s Optane persistent 200 series memory modules, which allow the server to support up to 3TB of memory.
