Outfitted with just a single 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, the 1U Supermicro WIO SuperServer 510P-WTR supports standard networking applications and high-performance computing workloads. It supports 4x 3.5-inch SATA or NVMe storage devices with SAS an option with a discrete SAS controller.
As part of Supermicro’s WIO series of servers, the Supermicro WIO SuperServer 510P-WTR can cover a range of applications from use as a networking appliance to general purpose computing, enterprise applications and cloud. Highly adaptable, it has 4x 3.5-inch hybrid bays up front and a fairly large memory capacity at up to 3TB of memory, plus support for Intel Optane Persistent memory 200 series. Dual 10Gb Ethernet ports via Intel X550 provide a dedicated network connection. Dual redundant 500W Platinum level PSUs provide the power.
This system is powered by a single 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor with a thermal design power (TDP) rating of up to 270W. CPUs supported include those with up to 36 physical cores and 72 virtual threads, plus up to 60MB of cache. It also features 8-memory channel architecture, and PCIe 4.0 for increased bandwidth for I/O and NVMe storage devices.
In addition to Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) and Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM), the Supermicro WIO SuperServer 510P-WTR also supports data centric persistent memory series 200. Memory speeds supported for all options include up to 3200MT/s, although memory speed is also dependent on the processor and memory modules installed. With only 8x memory module slots and a single processor, each memory module occupies a single memory channel for superior bandwidth.
4x 3.5" storage bays on the front of the chassis support 4x hot-swap hybrid drive bays that can be configured with SATA, SAS or NVME storage devices. SAS drives will require an additional SAS controller card. A single M.2 PCI-E 3.0 x 4 and SATA M-key, 2280, 22110 storage device can be installed on the system board to host the operating system. As an option, Administrators can also utilize up to 2x SuperDOM (Disk on Module) to support the OS, which feature built-in power. VROC or virtual RAID on CPU is supported for NVMe deployments.
In addition to the M.2 slot on the system board, there is also 3x PCIe 4.0 expansion slots for support of a SAS controller card or additional I/O controllers. All slots are x16 with 2x of them full-height, full-length and the other a low-profile slot. 2x integrated 10Gb Ethernet LAN ports via Intel X550 provide basis network connectivity along with an mLAN port for managing the system.
The RJ45 mLAN port at the back of the chassis is IPMI 2.0 and Redfish compatible offering access to the integrated baseboard management controller (BMC). The BMC provides remote and at chassis management of the system, plus virtual media over LAN and KVM-over-LAN support. Also provided is the Supermicro Update Manager (SUM), the Supermicro Power Manager (SUM), plus the Intel Node Manager and Supermicro Server Manager (SSM)
For virtualization, data center optimization, cloud computing, and use as a flexible enterprise server, the 1U Supermicro WIO SuperServer 510P-WTR excels. With just a single processor featuring up to 36 cores and offering support up to 3TB of memory, this system delivers a quick return on investment.
