You can install one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 processors up to 145W to power the Tyan B7071T80V8HR-N server. Intel’s QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) supports inter CPU communications of up to 9.6 GT/s. Each processor also supports four memory channels with two DIMM slot per channel, for eight memory slots per processor.
This system has 8 12.5-inch storage bays up front. Supported drive types include 2.5-inch SATA and SAS, SSDs and HDDs. SATA drives are supported natively on the system board, with SAS support provided by a discreet HD/RAID controller.
With dual processors the system will support 16 memory module slots. Supported configurations include Registered (RDIMM), load-reduces (LRDIMM), and 3DS LRDIMM memory modules. Users can achieve up to 2TB of memory only when using 3DS LRDIMM memory modules. E5-2600 v4 processors will provide the greatest speed at up to 2400MT/s, and also the highest core count.
There are five PCIe slots total, supported by pre-installed riser cards. Two 1GbE ports on the back of the system provide network communications. Faster network cards are supported in the PCIe 3.0 slots plus additional HD/RAID controllers. Up to four Nvidia TESLA GPUs can be installed with both processors installed.
System management is provided by Aspeed AST2400 along with the base management controller (BMC). It monitors the CPU, memory, chipset, and power supplies both at the chassis and remotely. It also monitors the temperature of the system, and in the event of a failure and can be configured to notify the Administrator.
