That’s 128 cores with both CPUs installed! These CPUs support up to 270W TDP, which are powered by dual redundant 1600W 80 Plus Platinum power supply. Each processor also supports 8x memory channels and higher memory density per socket.
Each Intel Xeon CPU connects to 16x memory slots, for a total of 32x DIMMs when both processors are installed. The memory slots accept DDR4 modules with up to 256GB at speeds of up to 3200MHz, depending on the type of memory installed. Memory types compatible with the Tyan TS75B7122 B7122T75V8E4HR-2T include 3DS registered (RDIMM), 3DS load reduced (LRDIMM) and standard LRDIMMs, which all support up to 8TB of memory. Standard RDIMMs support up to 128GB per slot for a total of up to 4TB when all slots are populated. The amount doubles up to 8,192GB when using RDIMM 3DS/LRDIMM 3DS modules.
The chassis houses 12x 3.5” tool-less drive bays on the front panel with two storage configuration options. The front HDD backplane supports SAS 12Gb/s, SATA 6Gb/s, and NVMe where all drive bays can support SATA or 8x SATA and 4x NVMe U.2 drive bays. SAS drives are supported, but require a dedicated SAS controller RAID card. The server also supports 2x NVMe M.2 slots with 22110 or 2280 configurations.
The B7122T75V8E4HR-2T includes connectivity for a total of 5x PCIe Gen 4 slots. Two of these slots are full-height, full-length (FHFL), which can accommodate double-width GPUs. Moreover, the 2U server also supports a single PCIe Gen4 x16 OCP 3.0 mezzanine slot. A pair of integrated 10 GbE network ports and a 1 GbE port dedicated to IPMI can be found on the back of the chassis in addition to the dual USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and PCIe slots.
To manage the system either locally or remotely, there is a single 1GbE LAN port granting access to the integrated platform management interface (IPMI) on the rear of the chassis. The server also supports Aspeed’s 7th generation Server Management Processor, AST2600, allowing the platform to consume less power while maintaining performance and security. LEDs on the front panel offer health statuses of some of critical components.
