Designed for hybrid NVMe and SATA storage applications, the Tyan Thunder SX GT62FB5630 B5630G62FV6E4HR server is a flexible platform with access to high-speed storage media. In addition, the server supports 12x memory module slots with up to 1.5TB of memory. The system supports memory speeds up to 2933MHz and Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules, but only when a 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPU is installed.
Built around Intel’s second generation of Xeon Scalable processors, this platform focuses on performance-based workloads. With a 2nd generation CPU offering up to 28 cores, the system supports Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules for data resiliency and speed. The CPU supports 12x memory module slots with up to 1.5TB of memory.
While only a 1U system, the B5630G62FV6E4HR server offers plenty of configurability on the storage end. Designed for hybrid NVMe/SATA cache storage applications, it supports up to 10x hard drives or SSD drives in the front drive bays. The 1U platform accommodates a hybrid storage backplane with 4x NVMe U.2 drive bays to either side of the front panel. The middle drives support 6x 2.5-inch hot-swap SATA hard drives or SSDs and can be RAIDed together using the onblard HD/RAID controller.
The Tyan Thunder SX GT62FB5630 B5630G62FV6E4HR server offers 6x memory channels, with 2x memory modules per channel, for a total of 12x active DDR4 memory module slots. This server can be outfitted with up to 1,536GB when using RDIMM 3DS/LRDIMM 3DS memory modules operating at speeds of up to 2933MHz. The highest memory speed can only be reached when using a 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPU and in a 1 DIMM per channel configuration. Registered (RDIMM) memory modules support up to 384GB, while load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules support a maximum capacity of 768GB. The server also supports Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules, which are only supported when using a 2nd Gen Scalable processor.
A half-height, half-length PCIe Gen3 x16 slot can leverage an add-on card through a preinstalled riser card. An optional PCIe Gen3 x8 OCP 2.0 slot is also supported. A pre-installed x8 PCIe card provides OCulink connectors for the four NVMe U.2 drives.
System management is handled by a 1Gb RJ45 LAN port on the rear of the chassis dedicated for the baseboard management controller (BMC) and the integrated platform management interface (IPMI 2.0). The server also features AST2500 BMC with Redfish support to monitor components and system health at-chassis or remotely.
