The Tyan Transport CX GC68AB8056 B8056G68AE12HR server is a 1U system compatible with a single AMD EPYC 9004 Series processor, AMD’s 4rth generation EPYC series processor. It is designed for Cloud Server applications with up to 12x NVMe U.2 drive bays and a maximum memory capacity of up to 3TB. The rear of the system houses 2x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots.
Designed for Cloud Computing applications, the Tyan Transport CX GC68AB8056 B8056G68AE12HR server houses a single AMD EPYC 9004 Series processor. As the successor to AMD’s 3rd generation 7003 series processors, the 9004 series processors offer more cores, support for more and faster memory, plus PCIe 5.0. The single CPU socket supports 24x DIMM slots which have a maximum memory capacity of up to 3TB. On the front of the chassis there are 12x U.2 hot-swappable NVMe drive bays. The rear of the chassis houses dual PCIe Gen5 x16 expansion slots. This system is powered by 2x 850W hot-swap redundant 80 Plus Platinum power supplies.
A single AMD EPYC 9004 Series processor powers this system and is the next generation of AMD CPUs beyond the AMD EPYC 7003 Series processors. The hardware design restricts the CPU choices to a Thermal Design Point (TDP) of 300W. At this TDP the system can accommodate a maximum physical core count up to 84x cores and up to 168x virtual threads. AMD EPYC 9004 Series processors provide PCIe Gen5 and 12-memory channel architecture for greater data throughput compared to the previous AMD EPYC generations. Compared to Intel-based systems, these processors also provide better power efficiency.
On the front of the Tyan GC68A-B8056 B8056G68AE12HR Server there are 12x 2.5-inch hot-swap NVMe HDD/SSD drive bays supported by a hybrid NVMe/SAS/SATA backplane. SATA drives are supported at 6Gb/s, while SAS drives are supported at 12Gb/s. SAS drives will require a discrete SAS storge controller. The system board also houses 2x M.2 PCIe Gen4 drive slots for fast access storage or OS installation.
Compatible memory modules on the Tyan Transport GC68A-B8056 B8056G68AE12HR Server include Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) as well as 3DS RDIMMs. With 12x memory channel architecture, fully configured, this system has a maximum memory of up to 3TB across 24x DIMM slots. The maximum memory configuration uses 24x 128GB RDIMM or 3DS RDIMM DDR5 memory modules. Supported memory speeds on this system include 4800MHz, 4400MHz, and 4000MHz.
System expansion is achieved through 2x PCIe Gen5 x16 slots. PCIe 5.0 offers twice the data transfer rates compared to the PCIe 4.0 capabilities. PCIe 4.0 cards are still compatible with the PCIe 5.0 interface and vice versa as it is a direct successor. There is also a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot on the back of the system specifically for an optional OCP 3.0 mezzanine card offering additional ports and link speeds for network communications.
Tyan provides many different options for server management. The rear of the system houses a dedicated RJ-45 port for the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0. This grants access to remote and at chassis management capabilities through the Aspeed AST2600 baseboard management controller (BMC).
