Equipped with a single processor from the AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 series, the Tyan Transport CX GC68AB8036 B8036G68AE12HR server is designed to support Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) compute applications. The system supports NVMe and SATA drives on the front of the system, with additional M.2 connectors, plus up to 4TB of memory.
The Tyan Transport CX GC68AB8036 B8036G68AE12HR can be configured with 12x NVMe HDD/SSDs or a mix of 8x NVMe and 4x SATA devices. With up to 4TB of memory, this system supports second-generation AMD EPYC processors, or the latest third-generation CPUs, to handle the most intensive cloud applications. The server also features the latest PCI 4.0 express technology supporting double the throughput of the previous generation.
Driven by the AMD Infinity architecture, this single socket server supports either an AMD EPYC 7002 (Rome) or 7003 (Milan) series processor, setting a new standard for the modern datacenter using single-socket servers. Based on the 7nm process technology, these CPUs provide up to 64 cores and support up to 16x memory module slots and up to 4TB of memory running at 3200MHz.
The AMD EPYC processor supports 8x memory channels. In this case, there are 16x memory module slots. The server supports different types of memory including RDIMM, RDIMM 3DS, LRIMM, and LRDIMM 3DS. RDIMM supports up to 2,048GB of DDR4 with ECC memory, while LRDIMM supports up to 4,096GB of DDR4 with ECC memory. Both types of memory support speeds of up to 3200MHz.
On the front of the system there are 12x drive bays with light blue tabs indicating that they are compatible with NVMe. The B8036G68AE12HR platform supports 8x NVMe U.2 devices and 4x NVMe/SATA 6G/SAS 12G devices. All 2.5-inch drive bays are tool-less and hot-swappable. For additional storage, there are two M.2 connectors compatible with PCIe Gen3 and SATA interface. NVMe drives offer the highest throughput and fastest response times yet for all types of enterprise workloads. The other system in the GC68AB8036 family, the B8036G68AV10E2HR-LE, supports 2x NVMe U.2 drives and up to 10x SATA drives.
Two PCIe 4.0 slots support a full-height, half-length x16 slot and a half-height, half-length x16 slot. The Transport CX GC68AB8036 B8036G68AE12HR comes with a pre-installed riser card and a PCI-E Gen 3 x16 OCP v2.0 mezzanine slot. Beyond increased bandwidth for data transfers, PCIe 4.0 has better signal reliability and integrity for improved performance.
An IPMI 2.0 compliant baseboard management controller (BMC) provides access to the integrated AST25000 module on the system board for at-chassis and remote management of the system. The BMC manages the interface between system-management software and platform hardware including temperature, fan speed, power status, operating system status, and inventory.
