Another cloud server is the Tyan Transport CX GC79B8252 B8252G79V4E4HR-2T Server, featuring dual AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 series processors in a 1U chassis. This system offers hybrid storage up front with a mix of NVMe and SATA storage options plus support for up to 8TB of memory.
Cloud servers are very much like servers that would ordinarily serve the needs of a business locally. Cloud storage gives businesses the opportunity to increase or decrease their computing and data storage needs without large capital expenditures on new equipment. What’s needed are fast and energy efficient models offering high-density compute, storage or both. The Tyan Transport CX GC79B8252 B8252G79V4E4HR-2T Server delivers with dual AMD EPYC processors supporting 8x hybrid drive bays up front and memory module slots to support up to 8TB of memory. This appliance can be configured to support a number of applications including Big Data, streaming data processing, in-memory database applications, and data visualization to name a few. Power is provided by either dual 1000W or 2000W power supply units (PSUs).
With a configurable thermal design power (TDP) wattage limit of 240W, this system will still support 2nd and 3rd generation AMD EPYC processors with 8x to 64x cores. With both sockets outfitted with 64x core CPUs, this system will support up to 128 physical cores and 256 virtual threads. EPYC series processors also support PCIe 4.0 for twice the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0. Each processor also supports 8x memory channels or substantial memory density.
Each socket on the system board supports 16x memory module slots for 32x active memory module slots with both processors installed. Supported memory types include Registered (RDIMM), Load -Reduced (LRDIMM), plus 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules, which offer higher memory counts. At full capacity, the system can support a little over 8TB of DDR4 ECC memory with memory module speeds of up to 3200MT/s. With 8x memory channels, and 16x memory module slots per socket, each memory channel can support a maximum of 2x memory modules.
For a 1U chassis, the Tyan Transport CX GC79B8252 B8252G79V4E4HR-2T Server has a fair amount of storage available in the front with 4x 3.5-inch drive bays on the bottom and 4x more 2.5-inch storage bays on top. The lower 3.5-inch bays can support SATA drive formats offering substantial storage capacity with a 6Gb/s data transfer rate. The upper 2.5-inch bays support U.2 NVMe drive formats offering both speed and resiliency to your business. While SATA is the default connection, the SAS/SATA HDD backplane will also support SAS drive formats with a discrete SAS HBA/ RAID controller. 2x NVMe/SATA M.2 drives can also be installed on the motherboard to support the operating system.
In addition to the front NVMe drives and M.2 storage drives, which use the PCIe 4.0 bus, there are two risers in back supporting full-height, half-length slots. Each of the slots features a PCIe 4.0 interface and a x16 link to the PCIe bus. There is also a PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 OCP 3.0 slot for a mezzanine card offering additional network communications with a variety of port and connection speed options available.
A dedicated RJ45 port on the back of the system provides dedicated access to the Aspeed AST2500 module on the system board for at-chassis and remote management of the system. Various LEDs scattered around the system also provide tell-tale lights for health status of the system and various components, including temperature, voltage, fans, and PSUs to name a few. The system is integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) compliant and has iKVM features through the management module. This system uses the MegaRAC SP-X management solution supporting industry standard like integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0), Restful APIs, Smash, Serial over LAN and other features.
Designed for use in the cloud with infrastructure as a service (IaaS), software as a service (SaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS), the Tyan Transport CX GC79B8252 B8252G79V4E4HR-2T Server provides the basis components of cloud computing. At only 1U, it offers substantial compute with dual AMD EPYC processors, a large memory footprint, and 8x hybrid drive bays up front.
*The SAS/SATA HDD backplane is connected to onboard SATA connection by default
