Each of the four server nodes supports a single AMD EPYC 7002 series (ROME) processor, which provide several new updates including support for up to 4TB and PCIe 4.0. Limitations on your choice of CPU is a direct result of the thermal design point (TDP) with only those offering 240W or less are supported. Each processor also supports 8x memory channels.
There are 4x storage bays on the front of each of the server sleds for a maximum of 16x 2.5-inch SATA III drives supported in the 2U chassis. Each node also supports two M.2 drives directly on the motherboard for additional superfast storage.
Outfitted with 8x memory module sockets in each server node optimizes memory performance with a single memory module in each memory channel. Using registered memory modules (RDIMM) the system will support up to 2TB. With load-reduced memory modules, the system is capable of supporting up to 4TB of memory per compute module for up to 16TB of memory if all compute sleds memory channels are occupied by 512GB LRDIMM modules in all slots. Memory will run at speeds of up to 3200MHz assuming both CPU and memory modules support this speed.
Just like it’s companion chassis, each of the 4x server nodes supports two PCIe 4.0 x16 expansion slots. AN Open Compute Project (OCP) mezzanine card can also be installed for optimal network communication.
This server offers a management interface compatible across a range of manufacturers, with an integrated platform management interface or IPMI. Access to the baseboard management controller or BMC is through an RJ-45 port on the back of the system providing access to the Aspeed AST2500 module on the Tyan TN73B8037 B8037T73X4-200PV4HR Server motherboard for remote and at chassis management of the system.
