Supporting a single 7002 or 7003 series AMD EPYC processor, the Tyan Transport HX FT65TB8030 B8030F65TV8E2H-G server tower offers powerful performance in a tower enclosure. 10 hybrid drive bays along the front of the chassis can be configured for SATA, SAS, or NVMe drive options. It can also support up to 2TB of memory.
With access to the internally mounted GPUs covered by a fan bracket, the Tyan Transport HX FT65TB8030 B8030F65TV8E2H-G server is more of a server tower than a workstation. That said, it can be networked to provide access to the GPUs for multiple users. This system can also be used for an edge computing solution providing the processing at the source for mission critical applications. It may only have one processor, but with AMD’s EPYC series 7002 (ROME) or 7003 (NAPLES) processors you can get up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads. With 4x GPUs installed from either the Quadro, Tesla or GeForce families, it offers significant compute acceleration. Power is provided by a non-hot-swappable PSU that is more like an enthusiast PSU with multiple connectors coming off the back. Depending on your power source, it can provide up to 1500W of power using a power source ranging from 100-240V AC. The power cable is a C19 to C20 cable typically used for server-to-power distribution unit (PDU). There are 3 chassis options in the FT65TB8030 family, and this one is the only version that only has 3x fans. The others have 3x fans plus 2x more hot-swap fans.
Other FT65TB8030 Chassis ConfigurationsBoth the 7002 and 7003 series AMD EPYC processors support up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads of processing power. More cores, means better support for virtualized environments. Complimenting the processing cores is PCIe 4.0 offering greater throughput for GPUs, high-performance I/O and NVMe storage. Each CPU also supports up to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, which is more than twice as many PCIe lanes as are available with a single 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor. AMD CPUs also feature PCIe 4.0 offering 2-times the bandwidth compared to PCIe 3.0.
At full capacity, the Tyan Transport HX FT65TB8030 B8030F65TV8E2H-G server tower can support up to 2TB of memory. Standard Registered DIMM (RDIMM) memory modules will provide up to 512GB of memory and Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) will provide up to 1036Gb of memory. To reach the top capacity, the system requires 3DS RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules in all 8x memory slots.
There are 10x storage byas on the front of the system with 8x 3.5-inch bays on the lower half and 2x 2.5-inch storage bays just above those. The 3.5-inch bays support SATA or SAS drives but SAS drives will require a discrete HBA/RAID controller. The other 2x storage bays are for 2.5-inch drives and can be outfitted with either SATA or NVMe U.2 drive options. 2x PCIe x4 NVMe slots on the system board can be outfitted with M.2 drives, one is a PCIe 4.0 slot and the other a PCIe 3.0 slot. Additional NVMe M.2 superfast storage can also be mounted in the PCIe slots.
With PCIe 4.0 there is twice the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0. This AMD EPYC processor also supports up to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes offering significantly better performance for high-performance I/O, GPUs, and NVMe storage, all of which use the PCIe bus for a direct connection to the CPU. Along with the two x4 PCIe slots on the system board for the M.2 drives, there are a total of 5x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots for GPUs and high-performance I.O. A pre-installed Tyan riser card has a x16 slot supporting a x8 link that can be used for an optional SAS HBA/RAID card operating at up to 12Gb/s.
This platform uses the MegaRAC SP-X interface for at chassis and remote management of the system, which makes it compatible with a number of third-party vendors. It uses an HTML 5 user interface accessible through a standard browser. It provides data heavy interface compatible with data center monitoring and management applications. The dedicated RJ45 port on the back of the system provides access to the Aspeed AST2500 baseboard management controller (BMC) with Redfish support. Adjacent to the mLAN port are 2x 1GbE ports.
Designed for office spaces without a dedicated server room, the Tyan Transport HX FT65TB8030 B8030F65TV8E2H-G server tower offers substantial performance for edge applications. Outfitted with a single AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 processor, also delivers a low cost of entry and reduced licensing costs for socket-based application licensing. With support for up to 4x high-performance GPUs or computational accelerators and hybrid storage up front, this system can also be used to support AI, or AI training applications at the edge. It can also be mounted in a standard 42U enclosure with a rack mount kit.
