Description

Powered by a single AMD EPYC processor from the first or second generation, the Tyan Transport SX TN70EB8026 B8026T70EV10E4HR supports up to 16x memory module slots. The chassis allows 6x PCI-Express 3.0 slots and up to 2x M.2 slots for additional storage.

Performance

As an AMD-based server, the Tyan B8026T70EV10E4HR supports an AMD EPYC 7001 or 7002 series CPU with a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 180W. There are 8x memory channels on each side of the CPU for a total of 16x memory module slots. To keep the CPU and DIMMs cool, there are two rows of fans behind the front storage bays for a total of 8x fans.

Memory

The Transport SX TN70EB8026 B8026T70EV10E4HR has 8x memory module slots on each side of the AMD processor for a total of 16x DDR4 ECC DIMM slots. Up to 1,024GB of memory are supported when using registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules. Depending on which processor series is used, memory speeds can range between 2400MHz and 2666MHz.

Storage

Although this is a 2U one-socket server, it has many flexible features for high-performance computing. On the front of the chassis, the B8026T70EV10E4HR server features up to 12x SATA hot-swap 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drive bays. In addition, there are 4x drive bays compatible for hot-swap U.2 NVMe bays plus 2x SATA hot-swap 2.5-inch drive bays in the rear. Both the front and rear support SSD or HDD.

Expansion

The chassis holds a total of 6x expansion slots plus a dedicated slot for an OCP card. Two pre-installed riser cards each hold two full height, half-length cards and a half-height, half-length card. All are PCIe Gen3 x8 slots with the exception of the OCP, which holds a PCIe Gen3 x16 OCP 2.0 slot. On the back of the chassis are two RJ45 LAN ports a dedicated BMC port, and two expansion slots.

Management

To manage the system, a dedicated IPMI 2.0 compliant baseboard management controller (BMC) provides access to the AST2500 onboard chipset. This allows for remote and at-chassis management in the event fans stop working, temperature rises, or the overall server health decreases.
