Offering 12x 3.5-inch SATA storage bays with an option to install 4x NVMe U.2 drives, the 2U Tyan Transport SX TS70B8056 B8056T70V8E6HR Storage Server is designed for software defined storage, high-speed data streaming distributed database applications, and a host of other storage intensive applications. With a single AMD EPYC 9004 series CPU it can support up to 3TB of memory.
An AMD EPYC 9004 series processor with a configurable thermal design power (TDP) rating of up to 400W can be installed on the Tyan Transport SX TS70B8056 B8056T70V8E6HR Storage Server. This TDP allows for CPUs with up to 96x physical cores and 192x virtual threads, plus a cache of up to 384MB. AMDs 4th generation EPYC 9004 series processors support DDR5 memory, feature 12x memory channels, and support PCIe 5.0 offering twice the bandwidth compared to PCIe 4.0. The system is powered by either 1000W or 1200W 1+1 redundant power supply units (PSU).
With 24x memory module slots on the Transport SX TS70B8056 B8056T70V8E6HR Server, the system can support two memory modules per memory channel for up to 3TB of memory. DDR5 Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) with speeds of 400MHz, 4400MHz, and 4800MHz are supported.
12x front 3.5-inch drive bays can be outfitted with all hot-swap SATA at 6Gb/s. 4x of the front drive bays will also accept U.2 NVMe drives as an option. Drive bays are also color-coded with dark blue drive tray release tabs indicating SATA drive support and light blue tabs to indicate support for NVME drive formats. The backplane on the TS70B8056 B8056T70V8E6HR will also support SAS drives but will require a SAS controller card. A rear mounted drive cage supports 2x 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe drives. 2x PCIe Gen 4 slots on the system board support M.2 drives with lengths of 22110 or 2280 that can be used to boot the system in a mirrored RAID.
There is a dedicated management LAN port (mLAN) on the back of the system for remote management but no integrated LAN ports. A PCIe 5.0 x16 mezzanine card slot on the back supports an OCP 3.0 mezzanine card providing options for network communications with various port and connection speed. Two pre-installed Tyan riser cards provide 3x additional PCIe 5.0 slots include 2x x16 slots on one riser and a single x8 slot on the other. All support full-height, half-length cards and can be used for NICs, HD controllers or M.2 caddies.
