The Supermicro SuperBlade 8149P-C4N is a quad-socket system compatible with 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. This system is meant to be housed in a compatible Supermicro SuperBlade Enclosure. The quad-socket configuration allows for up to 48x DIMM slots divided evenly between the sockets. There are 4x hot-pluggable hybrid drive bays on the front of the system, and 2x M.2 drive slots on the system board.
Four 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors are supported on the Supermicro SuperBlade 8149P-C4N Server. Compatible enclosures for this SuperBlade server include the Supermicro SuperBlade Enclosure (SBE) 820C and 820J families. Up to 10x of these quad socket servers can be installed in a compatible enclosure. Individually, this system supports 48x DIMM slots evenly divided between the four sockets. The front of the system is equipped with 4x 2.5-inch hybrid drive bays. Two M.2 drives are supported via PCIe x4 connectors.

Four 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs can be installed on the Supermicro 8149P-C4N node motherboard. Due to the hardware limitations the Thermal Design Point (TDP) of this system supports processors with a power output of 165W. The supported CPUs on this system support up to the Platinum and Gold families with 28x Physical Cores and 56x Virtual Threads. With all processors installed that’s 112 cores and 224 virtual threads.
4x hot-pluggable 2.5-inch NVMe/SAS3/SATA3 drive bays are available on the front of the Supermicro 8149P-C4N Server Node. If SAS drives are the preferred storage medium then a PCIe based SAS3 storage controller is required and will provide RAID levels of 0, 1, 5, and 10. A SAS mezzanine card slot is also available. The system board also features 2x PCIe x4 slots for high-speed M.2 storage devices, which can be used to support the OS.
A total of 48x DIMM slots can be found on the system board of the Supermicro 8149P-C4N server, which when fully configured support up to 12TB of memory. This is achieved using 264GB Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) or Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs). Supported memory speeds on this system include 2933MHz, 2666MHz, and 2400MHz depending on system configuration and memory modules used. Data centric persistent memory modules are also compatible with this system offering greater speed and resiliency.
Compatible enclosures for this system include the Supermicro SuperBlade Enclosure 820C and 820J enclosure families. They offer optional I/O modules for different port connection options and speeds. Depending on your choice of enclosure, 2x to 4x I/O modules are supported, which have a direct connection to the server node through the midplane. This particular server node offers dual 10G LAN in addition to other options via 25G/50G/100G/EDR Mezzanine card. Depending on the chassis enclosure and configuration, 1x or 2x Chassis Management Modules are available.
Management of the server is achieved through the Supermicro SuperBlade Enclosure 820C or 820J families which grant access to the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) on the server node motherboard. 1x or 2x Chassis Management Modules (CMM) are housed on each enclosure. The Integrated Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 supported on this server is compatible with KVM over IP and Virtual Media over LAN.
With up to 4x 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors installed on the Supermicro SuperBlade 8149P-C4N Server, it offers a large memory footprint for in-memory database applications. With only 4x hybrid 2.5-inch hot-pluggable drive bays on the front of the system as well as 2x M.2 drive slots on the system board, the main feature is the incredible compute and memory it can bring to bear on complex data.
