Designed for accelerator-enhanced HPC computing, the 4U Supermicro SuperServer 4029GP-TRT supports up to 6TB of memory and up to 8x Nvidia GPUs or computational accelerators. 24x 2.5-inch drive bays up front support SAS, SATA and NVMe drives.
With all the GPU horse power the Supermicro SuperServer 4029GP-TRT supports, it’s perfect fit for 3D rendering, astrophysics, chemistry, cloud computing, online transaction processing, and other high-performance applications. With support for 24x 2.5-inch drives up front, there’s plenty of room to scale as your business needs change. There are three other chassis configurations in this family each of which is defined by the daughterboard and the number of GPUs it supports:
Supermicro SuperServer 4029GP-TRT2
Supermicro SuperServer 4029GP-TRT3
Supermicro SuperServer 4029GP-TVRT
One or two intel Xeon Scalable processors can be installed on the Supermicro 4029GP-TRT server, supporting up to 28 cores and 205W. Both Gen 1 and Gen 2 intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported with Gen 2 processors supporting the most and fastest memory. Each Scalable processor supports six memory channels divided over 12x memory module slots.
There are 12x memory module slots per processor for 24x active memory module slots with two processors. 3DS Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM), and Intel Optane Data Centric Persistent Memory Modules (DCPMM) are supported on this system. Only Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors support the top memory speed of 2933MT/s, Gen 1 processors will support memory speeds of upto 2666MT/s. However, memory speed is dependent on both the processor, memory configuration, and memory module supported speeds.
SAS, SATA, and NVMe storage devices can be installed on the SuperMicro SuperServer 4029GP-TRT in various capacities. It can support 8x SATA with 2x NVMe drives natively with ports right on the motherboard. To support more drives or for support of SAS drives, you will need a discrete HD/RAID controller. A single slot on the motherboard supports 1x M.2 NVMe storage device for hosting the OS. Just adjacent to the M.2 slot is a microSD card slot that can be used to support a hypervisor.
8x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots support up to 8x double-width graphics cards or computational accelerators from Nvidia. There’s also two x8 PCIe 3.0 slots, and a single x4 PCIe 3.0 slot. The other slots csn be used to support HD/RAID controllers for SAS and SATA drives plus network controllers supporting greater data bandwidth. A single slot on the motherboard underneath the daughterboard supports a single M.2 NVMe storage device.
Supermicro’s Intelligent Platform Management Interface, or IPMI, connects to the integrated ASPEED AST 2500 controller for at chassis and remote management of the system. Supermicro SuperDoctor5 (SD5) offers an easy to use graphical interface to track your hardware assets for health status, on the fly provisioning, and it can send out alerts.
Supermicro has added a number of GPU servers to its line-up including 1U, 2U, 4U and some even larger chassis configurations. The Supermicro SuperServer 4029GP-TRT delivers some very impressive performance with help from dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 6TB of memory and room for up to 8x Nvidia Quadro or Tesla GPUs.
