The Tyan FT77CB7079 B7079F77CV10HR-2T-N server is part of Tyan’s third generation 8 GPU 4U server platforms. It supports dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors and up to eight high-performance double-wide GPGPUs from Nvidia, plus two onboard 10GbE ports for network communications.
The FT77CB7079 chassis in general has several different SKUs each of which supports slightly different features. What distinguishes the Tyan FT77CB7079 B7079F77CV10HR-2T-N server from the others is support for eight GPUs and a 10Gb LAN I/O. Designed for a number of high-performance workloads parsing ridiculously parallel workloads, the Tyan FT77CB7079 B7079F77CV10HR-2T-N server is perfect for BLAST searches, parallel rendering, numerical weather prediction workloads, brute force cryptography, large-scale facial recognition, and many others. Maximum CPU to GPU bandwidth is accomplished through four Avago/PLX PEX8747 switch chips, which groups GPUs into pairs that share a single x16 uplink.
The system supports dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 and Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors with a maximum Thermal Design Power wattage of 160W. Up to eight Nvidia GPUs provide additional computing power for ridiculously parallel workloads. Three 80 plus platinum 3200W hot-swap power supplies provide 2+1 redundancy.
Up to ten 2.5-inch or ten 3.5-inch hot swap SAS or SATA drives with 6Gb/s transfer speeds can be installed on this system.
Maximum memory capacity is dependent on the type of memory you install. Registered (RDIMMs) DDR4 memory modules will provide up to 512GB, load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules 1TB, or up to 2TB using 3DS Load-reduces or registered memory modules. Only intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors will support the fastest memory speed of 2400MHz, with v3 processors the top speed is restricted to 2333MHz.
Four Avago/PLX PEX8747 switch chips enable The PCIe lanes to be split into pars with each lane supporting 2 x16 PCIe 3.0 lanes for a total of 8 x16 PCIe 3.0 lanes to support up to full-height, full length Nvidia GPUs up to 300W each. The system features integrated 10GbE with one doing double-duty as the IPMI interface. A x8 Tyan mezzanine card supports a LAN mezzanine slot for an optional Mezzanine card, specifically the M7059F77-FDR for Ethernet/InfiniBand up to 56Gb/s!
The system features an onboard base management controller (BMC) with intelligent platforma management Interface (IPMI) and integrated KVM support.
For artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep neural network applications the Tyan FT77CB7079 B7079F77CV10HR-2T-N server is an excellent choice.
