Outfitted with up to 10x double-width GPUs plus support for PCIe 4.0, the Tyan Thunder HX FT83AB7129 B7129F83AV14E8HR-N server delivers some serious performance! It also features hybrid storage up front for SAS, SATA and NVMe storage mediums in 10x 2.5-inch and 12x 3.5-inch storage bays. The chassis has two levels inside with the lower tier providing support for the 4x redundant 3+1 power supplies and integrated I/O ports on the back of the chassis. Just above that is the motherboard and PCIe expansion board for supporting the 10x GPUs
Other FT83AB7129 Chassis ConfigurationsSupporting 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 40 cores each and up to 60M cache, the Tyan Thunder HX FT83AB7129 B7129F83AV14E8HR-N server also supports PCIe 4.0. Only Platinum Scalable processors can support up to 40 cores, while Gold can deliver up to 32 physical cores and 64 virtual threads using Intel’s hyperthreading technology. With this latest generation, PCIe 4.0 is supported providing 2x the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0. more PCIe lanes are also available with 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes compared to only 48 on the previous generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
With both processors installed the system has 32x active memory module slots equally divided between the two processors. 3rd generation processors also support more memory with 8x memory channels instead of only 6x supported on the previous generation. At full capacity, using 3DS Registered (RDIMM), Load Reduced (LRDIMM) or standard LRDIMM memory modules, the system can support a little over 8TB of memory. Standard RDIMMs will only support up to 4TB of memory.
There are 22 storage bays on the front of the Tyan Thunder HX FT83AB7129 B7129F83AV14E8HR-N server. 12x 3.5-inch bays lining the bottom half of the chassis support SATA drives at 6Gb/s or SAS at 12Gb/s. The 10x 2.5-inch storage bays above those support 2x SATA drives on the far left with the other 8x that can be used optionally with U.2 NVMe drive formats. The drive trays are also color-coded with dark blue for SATA/SAS implementations, and the light blue release tabs indicating support for NVMe.
The PCIe expansion board has 11x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots designated for support of up to 10x double-width high-performance GPUs like Nvidia Quadro RTX A5000 or GeForce RTX 3080 AI cards, and a single slot for a high-performance I/O card. A PCIe 4.0 switch supports expanded PCIe slots on the PCIe expansion board, with 5x GPUs controlled by each CPU. Two more PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 slots are housed in the pre-installed Tyan riser card. A pre-installed Tyan mezzanine card slot for an OCP 3.0 card provides additional ports plus network connection speeds. The OCP mezzanine card has a pull tab and is easily installed or replaced. 2x PCIe 4.0 slots on the system board can be outfitted with NVMe M.2 storage devices. Adjacent to the OCP mezzanine slot is a GbE port for dedicated management of the system.
Access to the integrated AST2600 baseboard management controller (BMC) is through the dedicated RJ45 management port on the back of the system. The system is IPMI 2.0 and Redfish compatible for ease of use with other third-party hardware and software. The iKVM feature offers video compression plus support for storage over IP and remote platform flash.
