Offering up to 10x high-performance GPUs, the Tyan Thunder HX FT83AB7129 B7129F83AV8E4HR-N server is perfect for applications in AI, AI training and inference, plus HPC applications and analysis. With dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the system support PCIe 4.0 with up to 128 PCIe lanes between the two processors. PLX PCIe 4.0 switches on the PCIe expansion board have up to 96 lanes each enabling not only the GPUs but 3x additional PCIe slots that can be outfitted with high-speed I/O or SSD RAID controllers. 12x 3.5-inch storage bays on the front of the system provide plenty of local storage for analytics and training applications.
Other FT83AB7129 Chassis Configurations3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors support up to 40 cores in the Platinum family or up to 32 when using Gold. Both offer support for PCIe 4.0, which offers twice the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0. More PCIe lanes at 64 compared to only 48 also enable more bandwidth both the GPUs, NVMe storage and additional PCIe options. Processors are limited to 270W. The system is powered by 4x 1600W 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs operating in a 3+1 redundant configuration.
Each processor supports 8x memory channels and 16x memory module slots for 32x DDR4 ECC memory module slots total. At full capacity using 3DS Registered (RDIMM), Load Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules, or standard LRDIMM modules the system will support a little over 8TB of memory. Standard RDIMM memory modules offer the least memory capacity at up to 4TB of memory with all slots loaded using 128GB memory modules.
This chassis configuration features 12x 3.5-inch drive bays in the lower half of the front panel. The drive trays are tool-less if you install 3.5-inch drives but will require a few screws if 2.5-inch drives are installed. The drive bays support both SATA and NVMe U.2 drive types natively. SAS drives will require a discrete RAID Controller, which can be installed in one or two PCIe 4.0 ports located above the HD drive cage and the row of cooling fans. A single M.2 storage drive is also supported on the system board with a 2280 form factor and a PCIe 4.0 interface.
As a GPU system, the Tyan FT83AB7129 B7129F83AV8E4HR-N server will support up to 10x double-width high-performance GPUS like the Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000. All supported slots are PCIe 4.0 x16 for the GPUs and there is an additional slot squeezed in between the GPU slots for a high-performance I/O card. A preinstalled riser card at the front of the chassis has 2x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots for support of one or two HD RAID controllers. An OCP 3.0 card slot at the back of the chassis can be used to support the I/O offering several different port and connection speed options.
A dedicated management port on the back of the system is IPMI 2.0 and Redfish compatible for ease of use with other third-party hardware systems. Access to the integrated Aspeed AST2600 can also be achieved through the front of the chassis using a KVM cart.
