The Tyan Thunder SX TN76B7102 B7102T76V12HR-2T-G Server features a compact 2U chassis and can support dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, including the Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors, and up to 3TB of memory. Twelve storage bays up front support SATA drives at 6Gb/s. It can support Intel’s Omni Path network cards for data transfer speeds of up to 100Gb/s, plus a maximum of two Nvidia consumer graphics cards.
With superfast network connection speeds, plus substantial compute, memory, and storage capacity, this system is ideal for big data analytics, data visualization, simulation, machine learning, and in-memory database applications. The Tyan SX TN76B7102 B7102T76V12HR-2T-G Server supports the latest technology from Intel including Gen 1 and Gen2 Xeon Scalable processors. Two hot-swap 1200W power supplies are supported on the system for 1+1 redundancy. Up to 12 fans provide system cooling. In addition to this platform, there are two other configurations for this chassis offering support for other options including SAS storage NVMe storage and either consumer-grade or full-size Nvidia Tesla GPUs.

Using intel Xeon Scalable processors with an integrated Omni-Path connector provides a faster, more direct path to the network at speeds of up to 100Gb/s using an Omni-Path network fabric card. The motherboard will support one or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors from either Gen 1 or Gen 2, up to 165W. Processors that exceed 165W are only supported using an optional heat sink with integrated liquid cooling (FRU-TH-0220). Each processor supports six memory channels.
12 x 3.5-inch storage bays on the front of the chassis support SATA storage devices. A hybrid configuration supporting both SATA and NVMe is available on the B7102T76V8E4HR-2T-N chassis configuration. Drive trays support 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives. The integrated controller supports Virtual RAID on CPU through Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise (RSTe). Although you will need a standard or premium VROC key to support certain RAID conditions.
There are two memory modules per memory channel, and each processor supports 12 memory module slots, total. DDR4 Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and 3DS LRDIMM and RDIMM memory modules are supported. The 3DS LRDIMM and RDIMM memory modules will provide the greatest capacity at up to 3TB with memory speeds of up to 2666MT/s. Registered memory modules support the least memory at 768GB. Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors supported on this system may support faster memory speeds and more memory in general.
Depending on what you install in your expansion slots, there is the potential for up to six PCIe 3.0 slots total, supported by three separate riser options. Two x4 slots on the system board are dedicated for M.2 drive support. You can also install two GPGPUs in two of the x16 slots that can handle double-wide cards. Graphics cards supported on this system include Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 980TI, and the Titan X. Other optional cards support faster network connection speeds, HD/RAID controllers, and cards for the front mounted NVMe drives.
Basic local and remote management is handled by the integrated AST2500 Base Management Controller (BMC) with Redfish Support. Redfish is an associated program interface that helps manage the deployment of scale-out servers in a software-defined data center application or for Converged Hybrid IT. The integrated AST2500 supports video compression, storage over IP and remote platform-flash. This system runs both Windows and Linux operating system and is also VMware certified using specific Intel Xeon processors.
Tyan is becoming a serious contender in the x86 server space with high-capacity 2U servers designed to compete against more established manufacturers.
