Tyan’s Thunder SX series platforms all feature Intel’s Xeon Scalable processors. The Tyan Thunder SX TN76B7102 B7102T76V8E4HR-2T-N2 Server supports dual 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 3TB using registered or load reduced 3DS DDR4 memory modules. It also supports two consumer grade GPUs and both SATA and NVMe drives.
The Tyan Thunder SX TN76B7102 B7102T76V8E4HR-2T-N2 Server is designed for technical computing and virtualization. This is a 2U platform that supports ample upfront storage with 12x 3.5-inch storage bays, plus two slots for M.2 drives.

Featuring dual 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, this system supports processors up to a Thermal Design Power Wattage (TDP) of 165W. It supports Intel’s C621 chipset, plus memory speeds of 2666MHz. Each processor also supports 6x memory channels. The system is powered by two 1200W 80PLUS platinum PSUs offering 1+1 redundancy. You can also add 2x GPGPUs to support accelerate workloads in the data center.
Generous storage upfront with 12x 3.5-inch storage bays supports either 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives. The backplane will support both SAS, SATA, and up to 4x NVMe drives. However, if you plan on installing SAS drives you will need a discrete HD/RAID controller. Options include either 12x SSDs/HDDs or 8x SSDs/HDDs plus up to 4x NVMe drives. A pre-installed mezzanine card provides 4x ports for NVMe support.
With 6x memory channels, and 12 per processor and DIMM slots per processor, you can install two memory modules in each memory channel. Both DDR4 registered and load reduced memory modules are supported with 3DS memory modules supporting the highest capacity at up to 3TB.
In total there are 8x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots and 4x PCIe x16 slots, which are enabled by a MUX switch. These slots support not only the NVMe storage devices, but also the option for 2x Nvidia GPUs. One of the x8 slots can also be used to support an OCP 2.0 card to support of network connection speeds of up to 100GbE. There are also two dedicated slots on the system board for two M.2 storage devices.
A dedicated 1GbE port on the back of the Tyan TN76B7102 B7102T76V8E4HR-2T-N2 Server provides access to the integrated platform management interface and the AST2500 base management controller (BMC) with Redfish support.
With support for dual processors and two GPGPUs the Tyan Thunder SX TN76B7102 B7102T76V8E4HR-2T-N2 Server is a great choice for a general-purpose server. At 2U it also supports a fairly large storage and memory footprint providing the flexibility to support a number of different applications.
