This is a flexible platform that can be configured to support a number of different workloads with a choice of enterprise storage options, plus a large memory footprint.
Other TS65AB8036 Chassis ConfigurationsOutfitted with a single AMD EPYC series 7002/7003 series CPU you can still get up to 64 cores and 128 threads of processing power with a thermal constraint of 240W TDP. That’s more than twice the core count found on a comparable Intel-based system. Not only that, but EPYC processors also support 8x memory channels and a generous allocation of PCIe 4.0 slots at the back of the chassis. Dual redundant PSUs, either 1000W or 1200W 80PLUS platinum, power the system.
With 16 memory module slots and 8x memory channels, administrators can install a maximum of 2x memory modules per memory channel, or just one for optimal performance. Registered (RDIMM) and load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory, plus the 3DS versions are supported in varying capacities. The maximum memory footprint is provided using 3DS LRDIMM memory modules at up to 4TB. Depending on your choice of processor and memory modules, memory will run at up to 3200MT/s.
The backplane supports SAS, SATA and NVMe U.2 drives natively. However, if you want to install SAS drives you will need a discrete HBA/RAID controller installed in the PCIe slots. For ease of operation, the storage bays are color-coded with the 16x NVMe U.2 bays with light blue storage tray release levers and 8x SATA or SAS drives indicated with dark blue. In addition, there are 2x NVMe M.2 slots on the motherboard to support the OS, plus two more SATA storage drives in the rear of the chassis. However, the two rear SATA drives are not available with AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors deployed in all configurations.
Pre-installed TYAN risers provide 2x FH/FL x8 slots plus 4x FH/HL PCIe gen4.0 x8 slots. As previously mentioned, if you are using SAS drives you will need a separate HBA/RAID controller.
An IPMI 2.0 (Integrated Platform Management Interface) compliant baseboard management controller (BMC) provides access to the integrated ASP2500 management module. Additional management applications include Watchdog, Redfish API, and megaRAC, each featuring remote access though a standard browser for at-chassis and remote management of the system.
