Gigabyte G291-280 GPU Server
Dual 1st or 2nd gen. Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs, 24x DDR4 DIMM, 8x GPUs
Outfitted with dual processors from the 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable family, this system can field up to 3TB of memory and up to 16x single width GPU accelerators. CPUs with a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 205W are supported.
Both 1st and 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors support 6x memory channels. Each CPU also supports 12x memory module slots for 24x active memory module slots with both processors installed. Registered (RDIMM) memory modules will provide up to 1.5TB of memory with all slots loaded to capacity with 64GB memory modules. Load reduced (LRDIMM) modules are qualified up to 128GB for a maximum capacity of up to 3TB of memory, data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) of up to 128GB are also supported using 2nd gen. Intel CPUs.
Eight external storage bays up front support SATA3 or SAS3 drive formats on the Gigabyte G291-2G0 GPU server. However, if SAS drives are specified then a separate SAS HD/RAID controller is required. Two more internal storage bays are located to either side of the front drive cage and each can support a 7mm SSD. SATA RAID options include 0, 1, 5, and 10 using Intel’s integrated SATA controller.
A dedicated slot for an open compute project (OCP) type card provides additional optional network connection speeds and ports. Using Nvidia P4 GPUs in all slots on the 4x GPU PCIe 3.0 riser cages will support up to 16x single-width cards. Two more PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, accessible from the back of the chassis, provide options for support of high-performance I/O or a discrete SAS HD/RAID controller. All PCI express slots on the system board are PCIe 3.0. The system also features 2x 10GbE BASE-T LAN ports on the back of the chassis.
The Aspeed AST2500 management controller provides for remote access to the system in the event of a power or component failure. The system is also integrated platform management interface (IPMI) 2.0 compatible for smooth operation with other third-party hardware manufacturers. There is a dedicated RJ45 GbE LAN port on the back of the system.
Offering support for up to 16x single width GPU accelerators, the Gigabyte G291-2G0 GPU server is an excellent choice for a variety of high-performance computing applications including, speech recognition, visual processing, AI, and deep learning. Dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors support up to 3TB of memory and support for data centric persistent memory modules that can be used as memory or storage depending on your workload needs.
