The Gigabyte G482-Z54 GPU server is aimed at simplifying AI, AI training and inference, and high-performance computing in data centers. With support for dual AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 series processors, this system can accommodate 8x PCIe GPGPU cards, 10x drive bays, and 32x DIMMs.
At 4U, the Gigabyte G482-Z54 is outfitted with up to 8x PCIe Gen4 x16 slots for GPUs, as this is an NVIDIA-Certified system. The server uses the latest technology like PCIe Gen4, 3rd Gen AMD EPYC CPUs, 3200MHz memory speeds, and NVMe drive support. Both NVMe and SATA drives are supported natively.

The MZ52-G41 motherboard on the G482-Z54 GPU server supports dual processor connectivity for AMD EPYC 7002 (Rome) or 7003 (Milan) series processors with a configurable thermal design power (cTDP) of up to 240W. With increased clock speeds, the 7003 series processors offer a 20% gain in performance compared to its 7002-series predecessor. AMD Milan 7003 series CPUs offer up to 64 cores, 128 threads, and 128 lanes of PCIe 4.0, plus up to 4TB of memory, per CPU, when 3DS DDR4 memory modules are installed. AMD Rome 7002 series processors have most of the same characteristics as Milan but will only support 2TB per CPU. If only one CPU is installed, some PCIe or memory functions will be unavailable.
Each processor has 8-channel DDR4 3200MHz memory support with two DIMMs per channel, for a total of 16x DIMMs per CPU and 32x DIMMs total with both processors installed. As a result, the Gigabyte G482-Z54 server benefits from the additional “Milan” CPU with support for more memory bandwidth capacity, and more L3 cache. Up to 128GB per memory module slot are supported with RDIMM and LRDIMM modules, leading up to a maximum of 4TB when all memory module slots are populated. 3DS RDIMM and 3DS LRDIMM support up to 256GB per module for a total of up to 8TB when all slots are filled.
On the front panel of this 4U server, there are 10x hot-swappable drive bays. The 8x blue drive release tabs support 2.5-inch SATA drive bays, which can be configured with hard disk drives or solid-state drives. The 2x remaining drive bays have lime green release tabs to indicate that they are compatible with NVMe U.2 drives. SAS is not supported on this server.
As an NVIDIA-Certified system, this server offers scalability, security, and performance. The G482-Z54 platform combines the two AMD EPYC CPUs with 8x NVIDIA A100 GPUs using PCIe Gen 4.0 connections. The server is also compatible with AMD Instinct MI100 accelerators. Towards the rear of the chassis, behind the 6x fans in the middle of the server, there is a single full-height, full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for a high-performance I/O card. Supported GPU accelerators include various NVIDIA, AMD, Xilinx, and Qualcomm GPUs. The system comes with 2x integrated BASE-T LAN ports on the front of the system for network communications.
Offering remote access, the ASPEED AST2500 baseboard management controller (BMC) module located on the system board is accessed through the dedicated GbE RJ45 MLAN port on the front panel, adjacent to the 2x other LAN ports. The Gigabyte Management Console (GMC) for BMC server management can be accessed via a web browser-based platform. In addition, the Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) software is a no-cost program that can be downloaded to monitor or manage multiple servers.
Powering the Gigabyte G482-Z54 GPU server are dual AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 series processors with support for up to 32x DIMMs and 8TB of memory. The NVIDIA-Certified system features up to 8x GPUs from various manufacturers including, NVIDIA, AMD, Xilinx, and Qualcomm GPUs, plus the NVIDIA A100 and AMD Instinct MI100 GPUs.
