Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Gigabyte G481-H80 GPU server can support up to 8x NVIDIA Tesla V100 PCIe GPGPUs in a 4U chassis. Dual CPUs support up to 3TB of memory, and depending on the SKU, are compatible with data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM), also called Intel Optane memory modules.
Animated by dual 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 8x GPUs, the Gigabyte G481-H80 GPU server is ideal for AI, AI training, AI inference, deep learning, visual computing, and other high-performance computing applications. 10x hybrid storage bays line the front of the system, and with both processors installed the system will support up to 3TB of memory. Power is provided by 3x 2200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs.
One or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the first- or second-generation are supported on this platform. Scalable processors from the Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze support a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 205W, with Platinum processors delivering the highest number of cores. Each CPU supports 6x memory channels and PCIe 3.0 expansion slots. With only a single processor installed some memory and PCIe slots will not be available.
With 6x memory channels per CPU and 24x active slots in a 2x processor configuration, each CPU supports 12x memory module slots. Using load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules, or a mix of data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) in conjunction with registered (RDIMM) memory modules will provide the highest capacity at up to 3TB. Using only RDIMMs will support up to 1.5TB of memory at capacity. DCPMMs are only supported using 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
Drive bays on the front of the G481-H80 server are color coded to indicate drive type support. The 8x storage bays with blue tabs will support either SATA or SAS storage devices only. The 2x storage bays with amber drive release tabs will support NVMe or SATA. An NVMe add-on card is pre-installed. SAS and SATA drives use the integrated controller. Virtual RAID on CPU, or vROC, is also supported providing RAID functionality for SSD and NVMe drive formats.
Sixteen PCIe Gen 3 x16 slots support up to 8x full-width, full-height GPU accelerators for augmented computation and graphical support. Two additional PCIe 3.0 slots provide options for high-speed I/O. Two NVMe ports for the 2x NVMe drives up front are provided by a pre-installed NVMe add-on-card. Virtual RAID on CPU (vROC) is also supported using a vROC key.
A dedicated management port on the back of the system provides access to the ASPEED AST2500 baseboard management controller (BMC). Gigabyte provides two distinct platform management applications. The Gigabyte Management Console is for use with a single server, and the Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) is designed to manage multiple servers. Both provide an easy-to-use browser-based graphical interface that will provide general health status in addition to tools for remote management including out-of-band support. Both are available free of charge.
At 4U the Gigabyte G481-H80 GPU server offers dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 8x full size, double-slot GPUs and up to 3TB of memory. It also features generous storage up front with 10x hybrid storage bays. This system is designed to support a variety of applications including AI, AI training, AI inference, virtualization, and other high-performance computing workloads.
